RE: Who is buying?
I always observed that there are many people that are spreading out their cryptocurrency investments in altcoins. Especially during times of large btc price increase, when the increased price climb and volatility provides more opportunities for profit. Feathercoin has always been one of those coins with a huge potential of the price skyrocketing, even a single pump can take the market cap ftom 1mil to 5-10mil usd.
One of the things that would make it easier for feathercoin to enjoy its former glory, is to pay more attention to the ftc website that is broken in certain spots (minor details can show integrity to newcomers), more media coverage in more traditional web media (blogs, news outlets) as well as more modern (social media, crypto forums).
There is a variety of ways the above can be achieved, so ftc can gain a wider supporter and investor base. -

@aciddude
I can’t hide that i am waiting for the halving with a great amount of interest!
Edit:
Guys, what are you speculating about the halving?I guess due to supply lowering, prices will start to go up about 2-3 months from halving. What do you think?

RE: Who is buying?
Although i like the optimism, i really can’t see an ftc marketcap >20mil in 2017-2018. If you look at historical charts, even at overhyped periods for the coin, it did not surpass that number (not taking in account extremely short pump peaks).
The simplest way to speculate future value is to speculate how much fiat will flow towards ftc - how many people will give their money to buy ftc.
With a current circulation of about 165m coins, to reach a value of 100.000 satoshis, means a btc value of 0.001 = 2eur/ftc, a marketcap of 330mil.I wish that would happen, because i would be an actual millionaire in that case, but to be honest, the possibility of reaching such numbers is pretty difficult.
On the other hand, a target of 10.000sats its actually possible, market cap of 30some million at current btc value, with ftc going to 0.2eur/ftc, now that i can imagine.
Of course there is the possibility of a sudden extreme rise of btc value AND people not insta-dumping their ftc, which is highly unlikely too.

RE: Who is buying?
Happy new year!
I am one of the people that have feathercoin in mind for usage in a variety of startups (currently i am rougly designing a service that uses ftc exlusively, but it has a looooong way ahead of it untill its a valid idea, people have to see it, agree, improve, finance etc)
The community aspect of it is what makes me lean towards ftc.
Of course, i love some good daytrading but also holding for the long run, when extensive adoption will happen (and everyday use will be a reality).
Price, volume, marketcap and other financial factor speculation is just one of my kinky hobbies, hence the spec post. :) -
RE: New member
@georgelacr
Welcome!I don’t know if it counts as a success, but i mined feathercoin back in the day, bought some dips, traded some waves.
Eventually i quit my dayjob this August, and since then working on projects that i wanted to do for a long time (also minimal freelancing, but only on a “happy past customers need something new” kind of stuff.
Selling some of my ftc gave me the opportunity to quit a job i hated and eventually lower my stress a bit (regarding income/work and related issues), as well as cope a little bit better with chronic depression and anxiety.
So in a way, ftc helped me free a part of my soul.
Also, i have been lurking in these forums for years but only recently joined and met some pretty cool people in this community. Its nice to see people working on such a project in the way they do it. Especially in todays cryptoworld.
Although making profit feels great, success is not only measured by it :) -

Trading is an exciting thing, but only use logic - not emotions and never invest more than you can afford to lose. Always remember, the difference between an investor and a gambler is only their emotional state ;)Also, sharpen your trading technical analysis skills, it will be very helpful! (Just google for resources, there is a ton of free articles, databases, videos etc)

@SimonTower
There is a paper about the correlation between bitcoin price and google trends, pretty legit work by academic standards.Regarding ftc/gtrends i noticed that usually in pre-pump times, there is a clear increase in interest.
Although the current trend does not follow older patterns accurately, i am quite curious about the next weeks and especially untill Aug.
Of course, there is lots of manipulation in price action, as many of us tested, so movements can be mostly artificial.Other than that, by traditional TA i expect the price to go up to 2500-3500satoshis by mid-June/July.

RE: Who is buying?
One of the funniest things traders can do, is test out bot behavior so patterns are found. Then, take advantage of those patterns to discover potential algorithm nodes/conditions that can be manipulated and drive the bots crazy when the whales least expect it. Although a pretty rare possibility, buuut it might worth it sometimes.
Not that much for profit, but rather just for the lulz.

RE: Who is buying?
@AmDD
The best part is that the bot manipulation is so nicely made that the price action seems organic in timeframes >10min hahahahhahaha :pBut yeah, someone is also skimming those small peaks…
