How about:

• How powerful a computer/how many cores/threads do you need to actually be able to mine anything of any significance/contribute to a pool?

• In other words, what kind of hardware do you have to have that will produce a decent hash rate to start mining?

Hi everyone,

I can’t say I really know what I’m doing but I’ve read a fair few articles and watched some videos on alt-currencies and I’m fascinated by the concept.

I have no idea whether solo mining is going to amount to anything just running it on my Mac?! Needless to say I’ll be doing some more research. In it for the fun of it and to learn more than anything. Especially interested in the technical processes that go into making all this possible.
