What algos are being considered? CoinDesk released an article yesterday with a few lines about X11, here is the relevant excerpt:

The Rise of X11:

In recent months, innovations have come out of the altcoin community that have pushed new mining approaches and algorithms into the fore. From Scrypt-N to Groestl, more advanced systems for veryifing transactions within the coin network are reshaping the altcoin landscape.

According to a created by pool operator SuchPool.pw, X11 provides a very efficient way to mine coins. The algorithm does not pose the same power needs as other proof-of-work digital currencies, results in lower heat ranges and and greater hardware longevity as a result.

Pioneered by darkcoin, X11 has slowly gained traction in terms of new coin implementation. Darkcoin, along with Hirocoin and québecoin, are perhaps the most notable examples of X11 coins. Additionally, the algorithm has been integrated by some elements of the multipool community, with several pools offering X11 as a mining option.

For altcoin miners, X11 presents an interesting alternative that could become more prominent within the ecosystem. Those hoping to increase the lifetime of their mining rigs may want to consider this new algorithm as a viable option.

It could be a different problem though…

chrome worked?! It still doesn’t show the download sections here… it jumps directly to featured tools and there is no download section above it…

It could be me,(it usually is) but where on main page is the client available for download, and because its a hard fork event can we stick a link into bushstars post on top.

I’m still busy with stuff at home but dropped by to update my client. Feathercoin is doing very well compared to a ton of other cryptos at the moment so many thanks to those working hard for feathercoin.

I’ve reported this problem like 3 months back… Are you using Chrome? Because the problem was browser specific, try a mozilla derivative (like firefox) or IE :-(

It’s a problem in the latest version, changed enum { nMedianTimeSpan=11 }; to enum { nMedianTimeSpan=13 };

and apparently broke it.

Either get the previous version or recompile with that change reversed, until devs fix this.

Might suggest looking at sgminer to.

Since they have forked cgminer.

Cleaned it up and continue to support scrypt on newer versions.

Cool! That would be best indeed. I will test it after cgminer and report back.

Maybe we should update the mining guides to include this information?

I would suggest however, the ftc community keep a clean copy somewhere and link to it on the mining guides, which are made useless without this required piece of software… There is room for malice here, if people begin googling for it or getting pre-compiled versions from different sources…

I was reluctant to google for it, as this has the potential for malicious users to compile it for leeching coins or snoop wallets.

So I figured the ftc community would have a trustworthy source for it, specially since the mining guide requires this miner in particular…

With that said, chrome actually blocked the download claiming it was malicious… But since I’m only testing stuff anyway :-)
