"Actually after v0.5 I think peercoin would operate in such a mode. Although it’s not that simple by the look. In peercoin paper I mentioned that we tried to design a distributed checkpointing, but the main issue with it is that there could be a network split attack on the mechanism.

So the reorganization depth limit is a fixed parameter, set to kinda deep such that a network split attack is much more costly than a typical double spending attack.

This could mean that double-spending protection would be weakened slightly, that you could see >6 depth double spending attack, but network would be decentralized. The reorg depth limit could be set to for example 500 blocks.

We had nice things to say about ChrisJ, in fact, we talked about him in our recent newsletter. I’d recommend following his lead, comments like this are petty.

People get edgy when their investments are bottoming out, I get it. Ask how much it cost to pay for the programming for the checkpointing and how much I contributed. Ask how much I sent over for the 33000 fork or the contests or the countless giveaways. Ask ChrisJ on all the contacts I sent his way when he took the helm of Feather. I spent my time and paid my dues here, period.

Take shots all you want, it doesn’t move the price of this coin. You have a strong community under ChrisJ, however, without the innovation, I think you’re in for a fight for slot #2. Other communities are getting organized, it’s not April anymore.

I’ll keep a few thousand just in case FTC gets on Gox. Like I said, I lost some PXC and WDC coming down. I wish I made a better investment, but that money is gone. Innovation, multiple 51% attacks and utility are the reason Feathercoin drops, not me. You have a solid community that I respect, I wish everyone the best of luck. Even if the price doesn’t move much in the future, your voice is being heard loud and clear!

The only way the PPC community was informed of the coin being added was from the Feathercoin thread. If a PPC holder outside of the direct community made the request, that’s something we wouldn’t know about.

It is our long term plan to implement also many types of altcoins, PPC would be in our first batch together with Litecoin and Feathercoin. However this is not a simple task as many altcoin clients do not support .multi signature wallets.

THerefore, in the future, we would also be contacting people from the community to implement certain features and functionalities into the altcoin clients so that our service would be supported.
