Really cool article :D. Although its meant to be a satirical one more than anything, some of the points mentioned really do make you wonder how such a system is adopted worldwide! Im no expert in these things, but it really does make you wonder … And possibly point out the advantages of cryptocurrencies.

They’re already taking steps to prevent this. Basically that code reads, “Did you use too big an operation for too small a data type? You did? Reject it.” forcing implementors to use the smallest possible data types, disallowing future changes by padding the data with leading 0’s.

The problem, which is a harmless problem to begin with [u]if your following the protocol[/u], is already being mitigated. +1 for the Bitcoin dev team, and minus several thousand for Gox.

Just a further update to this “dead gpu” in case this happens to someone else.

I plugged the GPU into the motherboard to test it one last time and the monitor display came up, so it was working but the fans were not spinning. So I looked around the GPU and it was the power fan connector on the GPU that had come out somehow, I reconnected it and now the GPU is working and spinning.

Happy days :)

Just to give an update on this, I managed to get it working. I took everything apart and “bread boarded” the system adding one component at a time, it all worked in the end with all fans spinning and the system POST’ing (except for one GPU, which Ill ask about in a different post as to keep everything separate).

So all that’s left now is to install the software and kick it off. Ill put a pic of it in the rig picture forum.

Also, try to avoid OCZ for now. They filed for bankruptcy and you may be out of luck if you need to use your warranty. Wait to see what comes of the company before purchasing anything from the OCZ brand for awhile.
