i have used mining_proxy.exe to connect to stratum backend at coinotron.com

here is my .bat file when used with cpu miner, you should be able to substitute another miner and it should work
the ping line is to give time for the proxy to fully run before the miner starts

start cmd /c “mining_proxy.exe” -pa scrypt -o coinotron.com -p 3337

for windows peoples, you may have to open firewall, allow feathercoind through windows firewall

one maybe little or maybe big problem

if i were to get a block, where will the FTC go? there is a wallet.dat in my appdata directory

BUT

i only installed feathercoind, not the wallet (feathercoin-qt) on this computer as i was planning to setup p2pool (didn’t get to it yet)

will my block of FTC go into that wallet? then i could move that wallet.dat file to a computer with feathercoin-qt to access it?

what if my miner says “no suitable long poll found” , is that bad or ok? it shows hash# despite the message

i can’t get to any pools or p2pool nodes, except hynodeva and they have suspended payments
going to see if i can figure out this solo thing, otherwise, might be dead in the water

can i point other rigs on my LAN to a single feathercoind -daemon using its local ip ?

is there something happening with attack? i am seeing trouble connecting to two different pools and the total hash# is down and the FTC hash# on coinotron is down alot

i am going to setup my own private node, mostly to learn, but also that way the p2pool software will take care of figuring out what other nodes are out there

can i just follow a litecoin p2pool tutorial and substitute ftc ports and stuff where needed or is there actually different p2pool version/software for FTC?

ok i think you just need to change 2-3 things

cd Feathercoin -> cd FeatherCoin

qmake -> qmake USE_UPNP=-

and if needed

make -f makefile.unix -> make -f makefile.unix USE_UPNP=-

if a build with UPNP is actually needed , then a step to get that apt-get’ed maybe would be needed? i tried apt-get install miniupnp and it didn’t seem to work

i had to apt-get git, but it told me to and how to do that
your step “cd Feathercoin” , i tried copy and paste and it didn’t work, but i knew it was case sensitive, so i typed it with the capital “C” and it worked
after doing “make” , i got '…fatal error: openssl/bn.h no file or directory exists", so i tried the next step “make -f makefile.unix” and got the same error
since you had me apt-get libcurl4-openssl-dev, not sure what is missing
i’ll try to read the stuff in the feathercoin folder that was created by the git step

i googled the error and it said to apt-get libcurl4-openssl-dev
so i tried doing just that one by itself
it seemed to download more stuff
i then tried make and it gave fatal error db_cxx.h no file or directory found
tried the next step and got the same error, so i googled that one and …

i think i know where i went wrong, i tried to copy/paste the whole
apt-get install qt4-qmake libqt4-dev build-essential libboost-dev libboost-system-dev libboost-filesystem-dev libboost-program-options-dev
libboost-thread-dev libssl-dev libdb4.8+±dev libcurl4-openssl-dev

step and due to the carriage return, those four things didn’t get apt-get’ed , so i’ll go back and complete that step correctly and see if that doesn’t make it good

it didn’t want to apt-get libdb4.8+±dev , but the googled reference to the same error for litecoin compile said to just apt-get libdb+±dev , so i am trying that

the googled litecoin thread said “make -f makefile.unix USE_UPNP=-” if you get a message about miniupnp not installed/missing, so i tried that …
