RE: Mining for Dummies? Help?
To start off you can do whats called pool mining, thats what I’m doing now with my computer which is only using it’s CPU. My computer has 4 cores and it says it’s going at 3.75 Khz per core, so a total of 15 Khz. With the mining pool at my rate I’m getting about .6 feathercoins per day. Of course I’m spending a lot more on electricity than I’m earning with feathercoin but for me it’s about the learning process right now.

RE: Mining Noob questions
I’m doing cpu mining with cpuminer and coinotron. It’s really slow but it’s working.

Planning my first real mining machine
Hi all,
For now I’m playing around with cpu mining but I want to start mining with a gpu or two later. Of course I want to keep the cost down, so what would you recommend for a lower price yet still decent gpu? I’ll buy one first then the next one later. So knowing that how much power will I need for this sort of budget setup? Maybe 750w?
Thanks,

Putty + SSH "screen" problems
Hi all,
I’m using windows putty to ssh into my linux machine which is doing some mining, however I would like to use screen to leave the session running while closing the putty software (so I don’t have to have two computers running all night). The problem is whenever I use the commands I see in the guides to switch screens for example, ctrl+a+n, it seems to be taking these key strokes in the windows application, not the linux terminal. So I have screen installed on the linux machine, I can run “screen” but I can’t seem to actually use it. Any ideas?
Thanks,

New miner learning
Hi all,
I started mining a few days ago for the first time. My setup below:
-Regular desktop computer
-Intel quad core, 2.5GHz
-4 GB ram
-no hard drive
-OS is ubuntu 13.04 running on an 8GB USB stick
-regular Ethernet cable for DSL internet connection
-no monitor, connected with putty via ssh on my windows laptopI tried using cgminer with my old 4350 GPU but I didn’t have any luck with even getting cgminer working, so after a lot of time messing with it I tried using cpuminer. Almost right away cpuminer started working! I’ve been running it for a few days now but it’s really really slow, I’m only getting like half a feathercoin per day. Of course thats really slow and not even worth the electricity which it cost to run the computer all that time, but I’m still in the learning phase so I’m happy. Next I plan to upgrade to a GPU and of course a power supply.
