Hello,

I have been working over the past weeks on version of ccminer (cuda) supporting neoscrypt algo for and I have decided to release it as a crowdfunded project.

This means that it will be publicly available and opensource once the donation reach a certain amount.

Right now this amount has been fixed at 5btc,however I might release it before.
Now, if there isn’t enough people who donates, the miner will be only given to those who have pledged after the pledge period has ended.

As of today, the miner gives these hashrates:

gtx980: 495kh/s

gtx780ti: 217kh/s

gtx750ti: 131kh/s

(using the opencl/sgminer miner would give for the 750ti around 40kh/s so it is already at least 3x time faster).

I am about to release a new version of ccminer supporting neoscrypt, it is around 25% faster than the sp/pallas version compiled with cuda 6.5
and around 100% faster when compiled with cuda 7.5

This is a co-joint effort between myself and Nicehash which will contribute to the pledge as well

This means that it will be publicly available once the donation reach an amount of 2.5btc.

Donation will have to be made exclusively to that btc address: 16UoC4DmTz2pvhFvcfTQrzkPTrXkWijzXw
(careful it is a new address, not the old one, one should already consider that 0.1btc has been donated)

The goad for this pledge is of 2.5btc (included NiceHash contribution).
The pledge start now (obviously) and should end the January the 24th (ie 2weeks and half).

If the pledge is successful both windows and linux version (the source) of ccminer will become available.

If those 2.5btc target is met, then the miners will be released through NiceHash

Current speed of the miner:

The hashrate given in the image is for ccminer compiled with cuda 6.5, I am also planning to retune the miner with cuda 7.5
At the moment the hashrate for the 750ti is mostly unchanged while the 980’s lose around 40kh/s.

He better work on it, because with current state of donation, no way I open source my software.

No bragging. If anyone donates enough crypto for me to buy a GTX 980, I write a fast OpenCL kernel and release it for free + future updates if any.

Well it is free but you need people to donate a card, so that’s not really free :) No I guess you understand the reason for a pledge…

Regarding Nvidia cards, sure I support their products. They have nice cards some are clearly overpriced but not all. The 750ti was pretty cheap and pretty good for mining (and the forthcoming gtx960 shouldn’t be too expensive with performance probably better than the 750ti).

Regarding opencl. Wolf0 who developped neoscrypt kernel for sgminer5 claims he has a kernel (private) doing 600kh/s on 290x may-be you could try to reach that speed with yours and release it for free, I guess you already have the material (Wolf0 won’t be happy if he reads me ;) )

I would happily put some cash forward for an improved NVidia NeoScrypt miner. I can’t cover a whole card but I’ll put in £40 of crypto.

or you could pledge for my miner based on ccminer (which should get released in about 2 weeks)

I saw that you are running 3 750ti at a total hashrate of 120kh/s

with ccminer you’ll get about 130kh/s per 750ti ie: 390kh/s instead of 120kh/s

(and I am still working on it)

The reference OpenCL kernel isn’t optimised for any particular architecture therefore you get what you get. There is no problem to optimise it for NVIDIA further meeting or exceeding your results, but I have no access to the new Maxwell based cards and not willing to buy any of these with my cash. NVIDIA doesn’t support open source software, so why should open source developers support NVIDIA?

Frankly speaking, I don’t think you can sell your miner for 5 BTC. Not sure you can get even half the price considering the current decline in crypto. Maybe you can try other ways to make a profit out of your miner.

First it is always nice bragging that you can do this and that but if you don’t do it. It is a bit pointless… :)

Also, nobody ever released a decent opencl kernel for nvidia cards and scrypt (for example) and it was pretty much assumed they weren’t suitable for mining, until Christian Buchner released a cuda kernel for them…

(So I would be curious to see the result… so if you join the competition…)

Regarding your comment about opensource and nvidia.

Opensource software are to support people using nvidia card not to support nvidia itself.

Lately nvidia came up with low power card which perform pretty well, so there are people interested in having miners for those card.

So they deserve miners as well…

Regarding the 5btc, it was based on download estimation (based on a previous miners I released), so it is probably a little high, I must admit, but as I said, I will probably not wait that it reaches that amount to release it… (now considering that the btc is going down… that’s clearly not a lot either…).

Also it must be noted, that I am not asking anyone to pay that amount, I am just asking people to participate (it is a crowd-funded project), just to clarify.

so far all my attempts at making a compute 3.0 versions have failed (not entirely sure why, resource limitation probably).

Also it must be understood that most of the features which allow to increase significantly the hashrate were introduced later (in compute 3.2~3.5) which means that even if I was able to fix the compute 3.0 version it wouldn’t even come close to what I get with the old compute 3.5 card.

So I don’t think it is really worth it to put effort into that direction.

Not sure where you saw that the 295x2 was the fastest card in the world… (and it is 2 gpu in one card, so it is also twice the power consumption)

and this is a gpu from last year, go rather for a furry X or something like that (but at the moment the fastest card for neoscrypt are still the nvidia)

I asked tpruvot, actually his version doesn’t support 3.0. Sorry so for the moment ccminer neoscrypt works only for compute 3.5 and higher.

You can may-be try sgminer but it isn’t really optimised for nvidia cards…

up to now, the binaries are given to anyone giving at least 0.02btc, I am not asking anyone to give 5btc.

Also the 5btc isn’t that high, it just means that everyone has to play the game (in that case 250ppl and I would assume that a coin like ftc has more than 250 users), not only a few…

A previous miner I released was downloaded, the last time I checked, 1325 times (I let you do the calculation… and it is only for the windows binaries…) so seen like that what I put as objective isn’t really high. (for the record I got donations from 10~15ppl… and it was the same people who donated at my previous release and donated as well to others gpu dev… )

And quite frankly it is in everybody interest as well as for the coin itself that people contribute a little more than just dumping it…

I tend to believe that if a donation is asked, people will tend to care a little more about what they mine…

I would tend to prefer donation in btc… each time I get donation in an other currency, it goes down… so if you want to avoid having ftc cursed, better donate in btc ;D .
