I’ve been mining for a a few weeks, up to 300 coins. Wish i would have gotten into mining sooner. I see a lot of people with 5k+ already,i’ll get there eventually.

look into that thread, If i remember doing my calculations correctly you should be able to ROI faster optimizing for power due to your crazy $/KWh…
I run 2 settings, the first is an optimized all out setting getting me 740KH/s per 7970 and the second is my quiet power optimized setting 660KH/s that drops temps about 12c.

This is exactly what i do. Because my wife doesn’t like the fans, personally find it soothing, I work in a server room a lot. Typically run my cards at 75degrees, at 650Kh/s fans at 65 or so. Anything above that and the noise gets excessive for the spouse. -
RE: Scrypt mining tuning
Thank for the video, i agree with you entirely.
What i’ve noticed is that as long as my engine/mem speeds have a 450-650hz difference i’ll get good hasrates. So 850/1400, 925/1475-1525, 975/1600, 1050/1750, etc.
When i want them to run cooler i use the lower rates, and when i want more hashes i run the higher rates.

Aaaaand they’re sold out.

RE: I am new member and a fellow Feathercoin miner 19000 khash from Istanbul Turkey
Holy cow. Sometimes i wish i didn’t have kids. Just out of curiosity how is the market in Istanbul for GPU’s? Which GPU’s do you find work the best (most stable/best temp/highest hash rate) I couldn’t tell if you were using PCI-E risers or not. Do you typically have 2 cards per board? What do you use to remote into them? a KVM?
As a fellow geek - your setup makes me drool. I’m pretty satisfied with my 2800Kh/s for now, but your setup is dreamy.

RE: Mining math
Are you using a pay per share pool? From what i’ve read the estimation is more accurate using PPS.
This is off topic, and an assumption, so if i’m offbase - i apologize.
Try these settings in your cgminer bat file:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
cgminer.exe --scrypt -o HOSTNAME:PORT -u USER -p PASS --intensity 13 -g 2 --shaders 2048 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-engine 995 --gpu-memclock 1600That should bump each card up to 680Kh/s
If you want to overclock a bit more to get to 740Kh/s use 1050/1750 for engine/mem
Shouldn’t raise your temps more than a few degrees.

RE: Digdig's intro, with XFX mining info
I sent you some FTC for the info, you’re my very first transaction! I’d send more but i don’t have much in my wallet, literally just got started yesterday.
Can’t thank you enough for the info though. I was a bit worried to change any more settings just getting it to 686Kh/s - but the coreclock change had quite the effect.

RE: Digdig's intro, with XFX mining info
Ahh that worked! I changed memclock to 1750, there was a very small change to Kh/s, maybe 4 or so.
Then i changed the coreclock to 1050, and it went from 686Kh/s -> 732Kh/s and only raised the temp 1C. Fantastic! thank you!

Hmm, that’s a great idea. I’ve never dabbled in water cooling before though. Any suggestions for a setup/brand?

Digdig's intro, with XFX mining info
Let me get this out in the open - I’m a newbie, first mining rig, i know i didn’t get the most optimal graphics card, but have waited weeks and haven’t found any of the recommended ones i’ve read about on this forum.
I have the XFX Double D FX797GTDFC Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition 3GB. They were pricey for what they are, but it’s all that was in stock anywhere. It has some “DOUBLE DISSIPATION EDITION” sticker on it and it does seem to run cool if only one is installed.
Out of the box with 1 card installed it’d do 540Kh/s at about 62C. When i added the other 3 to the board the temps were like: 82C,98C,67C,98C. They’re so thick that airflow in for the middle cards is terrible. Currently i’m running 3 of them instead of 4 until my PCI risers get here (China shipping… ugh)
I’m using the latest Catylst drivers (13.9) and MSI afterburner for fan arc control, and CGminer 3.7.2 (for the scrypt!)
So obviously, after looking at hardware comparison charts i’m expecting to get 700Kh/s+ out of the box. After 8 hours of fiddling with it and doing research i learned a few things:
1. These cards appear to be voltage locked. I changed the voltage to 1.15 via CGminer, it said the hardware accepted it, but when i checked again it hadn’t changed. Also in MSI afterburner it won’t display or let me modify the voltage control. It’s probably not worth the effort of trying to mess with this (for me anyway)
2. If i set the intensity over 13, there are numerous hardware errors, although the Kh/s goes up to almost 800, but the heat output/HW errors goes up too.
3. 2 of these cards spaced well apart would be ideal for 1 motherboard, if not using risersSo after playing around i found that these CGminer settings worked well enough for me to stop messing with them, but i would appreciate any input to get the Kh/s higher without HW errors.

>cgminer.exe --scrypt -o HOSTNAME:PORT -u USER -p PASS --intensity 13 -g 2 --shaders 2048 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-engine 995 --gpu-memclock 1600I also moved my rig to the garage where it’s about 50 degrees :P
Not quite sure how to add attachements to this forum, so here’s an imgur link to a screenshot:
