seasonic PSUs are hard to beat. i’ve got a 500 watt around here that’s still going strong after 7 or so years.
+1 on the do it yourself approach, but you forgot the pics… ::)

i finally broke down and sent my 7950 with a broken fan in for rma since i couldn’t find a replacement anywhere. i shipped it out on a thursday afternoon with ups and received it back on thursday morning via ups. that’s not too shabby for 14 bucks shipping. excellent service. the only downside is that they swapped cards with me and the replacement doesn’t clock as well as the original. however, it’s mining and not baking bread now, so it’s all good…LMAO
gratuitous tech pics for all the knuckleheads like me who can’t seem to leave things in one piece ::)

due to a recent bad experience and at the suggestion of Pyxis, i’ve decided to post a few things current events reminded me of the hard way ::)
don’t take your PC security lightly! having a trading account completely wiped out can leave you quite frustrated…and butt hurt :P
here are just a few steps that can be taken to improve system/account security:
– run a good malware detection software. AVG, comodo, etc
– never set a program to use the *remember me, stay signed in, etc* option.
– if you use a mobile phone, you can strengthen your security by using 2 factor authorization through SMS. i know that cryptsy, gmail, hotmail offer this service in user settings.
– set web browsers to not remember history and close them when machines are idle
– avoid logging in on public access machines.
– don’t use the same password for multiple accounts
– don’t leave coins on an exchange. take the 15 or so minutes and return them to your wallets
feel free to add your own ideas / methods so that we can build a comprehensive package of security on the forum to prevent this sort of thing in the future.
Should really look into 2 factor auth like SMS messages (supported by cryptsy)
yeah. that was the second thing i enabled after a password change. how i missed it before was beyond me. expensive mistake…LMAO
i never enable “remember me” options either :P
have fun and safe journey 8)
had a machine’s security compromised this morning. they gained access to one of my trading accounts and promptly dumped all the coins and rode off with about 3 bitcoin worth of loot. not a bad haul for 30 minutes worth of work. wiped out over a month’s worth of mining / trading for me though. i sure wish i could get my hands on the little weasels… ::)
found malware the machine. they could have grabbed any amount of information with that. basically, they logged in as me, verified the confirmation email, and made off with my fortunes :P
i think the worst part is spending hours in damage control mode…
i second that you guys are crazy :P
if the AC dies here in Texas this time of year, no amount of fans will cool a rig ;D
If you guys are still tired of gambling away your hard mined FTC, maybe you should try gambling away all of your hoarded bitcoins instead :D

are you using -server on the shortcut to launch the client? may not matter with server set in the config though
most likely a syntax error somewhere. try recreating the config file from scratch and make sure it is actually a .conf file *don’t ask*
