but it’s the second time for this note.

Timer has restarted for me as well. Its now has 22 Hours left. It would be nice to get an official launch time.

This look like one of the attackers. Notice what happens at block 52423.

I’m afraid we have to act quickly. Either with advanced checkpointing or something else. People start to panic.
I agree. It looks like the attacker has done something to the block chain to lower the difficulty and is proceeding with a 51% attack. Lower difficulty means confirmations are faster, therefore attacker could potentially cash in before the exchanges can react.
block explorer is showing low difficulty and blocks being generated within seconds of each other. even if the stats page isn’t reporting correctly, the block explorer should be and what it is showing is truly disturbing.
Something is very very wrong. Re-target time is negative and keeps increasing in negative value. Does this mean it will never reach 0 hence it will never re-target?
Edit: 69,505,175 KHash/s :o looks like another attack?

Trollbox is starting talk of an attempt to 51% us again. One of the pools is reporting 3 orphans over the last hour… an attempt to sabotage the Oxford meetup?

pcie risers. You would make a lot of money if you could design rig cases that are easy to use. Currently people have to build their own. This is not always the easiest task or the best looking.

+1 on both suggestions. You could sell modified milk crates to the mining community.
Also maybe USB sticks for OS, case fans, and PSU’s

You are becoming ever more sly with these subjects!

Yea, I always fall for it…

LOL, i couldnt click on the post quick enough. I even double clicked ::)

I made it!
810Kh/s
I still have some optimising to go, but for those interested I achieved this by disconnecting the crossfire bridge and using the ATI cleaning tool to clear off all drivers.
I then tried many variants of drivers all of which caused cgminer to crash on opening with the exception of 12.8
Finally I was able to crank the intensity up to 18 and the cards have been slogging away for an hour now with zero errors.
Thanks to those who suggested fixes and I wish everyone else lots of luck.

I’m really happy with my Gigabyte HD6950. I purchased it second hand from ebay for $100 AUD and hasn’t missed a beat. I currently have engine set to 955 and memory set to 1250 and its cranking out 470kh/s. Its also running surprisingly cool with temps maxing at about 73c in open air with a 25c ambient. This highest Ive had it is 475kh/s but drivers eventually crash.
150FTC/100WDC/50PXC just to make sure we are over the line for Milestone 1.
I believe your going to kick a lot of goals for feathercoin at this conference.
Looks like a surface mount capacitor.
I remember reading on a litecoin forum others having the exact same problem.

GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1
cgminer --scrypt -d 0 --url xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx --user xxxxxxxx.x --pass xxxx --gpu-engine 900 --gpu-memclock 1000 -I 18 --thread-concurrency 8192
These are the setting I use on my 6950. Get about 445kH/s. you should get up to 475kh/s with tuning of gpu-engine and gpu-memclock.
Edit: also downgrade to cat 13.1. I was getting cgminer crashing with 13.4 drivers.

Is the profitability up because FTC is up or is it because BTC is down, a lot?
I think mostly to do with the value of FTC. the profitability is based on BTC, so the actual value of BTC shouldn’t be relevant.
This is the problem though, all the other coins have fallen in value while FTC has increased. we are once again at the top of the profitability table on CoinChoose and so everyone has switched over.

Help me out here…
Do we not want more hashes to block potential attacks?
Coinchoose saved us by showing higher profitability with the lower hashrate.
I am confus.
We do want more hashes, however we would like to reward the consistent miners over the “pump-dump” miners who currently cause this difficulty cycle.
Yes this is becoming very frustrating. I have stayed on FTC through the hard times, and once the diff goes down we are getting an influx of miners who drive the diff up and then abandon us. I thought PPLNS was suppose to reward consistent mining, but as stated above the bigger miners come in, take the coins, and leave.
Sorry for the rant, but it is frustrating.
Lets wait and see what happens after the next diff change, remember this is very early stages in the coins life, and there is going to be a bit of testing / trial and error before the formula is just right.
We are very lucky, the developers of feathercoin arn’t going around saying “Go suck eggs, this is the way its going to be”. They are constantly watching and listening to this forum and they will take action if its needed.
indeed that was an interesting read, although I think his maths is off a bit
36,000FTC * 0.00101BTC is 39.24BTC. This equates to $4,300 USD approx.
Its been stated before a 51% attack is expensive to maintain. No doubt the attacker would profit, but they wont even make the $4,300 once they take their power cost into consideration. If it really was to profit, then why not join the network as a legitimate miner. This attack was to create FUD in to feathercoin community
Its comforting to know that the developers of FTC are investing time into developing tools to combat 51% attacks. I have faith in the FTC developer will find a solution to 51% attacks, and we will probably see this solution implemented into other coins, maybe even BTC
You owned that interview bushstar 8) great work!
It will be interesting to see what happens in a days time when the difficulty decreases. Based on the current value, The decrease will make FTC around LTC in profitability, so will we have an influx of miners again which will push the difficulty up? or will things start to stabilize?
If things do stabilize then FTC should hold its value and there is no logical reason to dump a coin which has good profitability and good value.

While I am absolutely disgusted with the attack on our coin, it did cause us to speed up the timetable. No hype… this is about to get good (huge smirk).
