For UK merchants I think bitstamp is 2-3 days for a withdrawal - if selling lots of high value goods this could still cause cashflow problems I guess.

I did consider doing ftc -> coinpayments.net -> cryptsy -> bitcoin wallet then “buy” from myself with bitpay and cash out. A lot of hassle though :-[

Very nice, i looked into those PCI-E backplanes but not sure on the cooling for them! (plus its cheaper to buy a few mobos/cpus)
