RE: Feathercoin mentioned Article
The problem with ‘Bitcoin = gold, Litecoin = silver, Feathercoin = copper’ is it is thinking of all these coins as commodities. That may very well become the case with Bitcoin, but if something else is a faster, lighter, easier to use, more portable, and more reliable means of payment than Bitcoin it stands poised to take over as a preferred means of payment, while Bitcoin finds its niche as a place to store large amounts of value.
I agree with that. I do view Bitcoin as a commodity. People in countries with unstable currencies (high inflation) will look to Bitcoin to preserve wealth. Also the fact the people do not like transactions that will be mostly .08 BTC or .anything. Feathercoin has the advantage over Litecoin as an alteranate use currency simply because of the 4x more available than Litecoin. Litecoin price will probably increase over the years and people may look to it as a ‘storage’ commodity like Bitcoin, and then the .anything use problem. So people should keep thinking Bitcoin=Gold and Litecoin=silver. Feathercoin should break from that thinking.
For real-world use that will appeal to people I think Feathercoin has the advantage, so long as the network and community continues to grow.

RE: Possibly increase your hash rate?
might seem like a dumb question but where can I download the 13.1 drivers?

RE: \[ANN\] United Open Currency Solutions (UNOCS) - Feather, Phenix and Worldcoin
ok cool. that 2 page release does look sharp!

RE: \[ANN\] United Open Currency Solutions (UNOCS) - Feather, Phenix and Worldcoin
I could not find anything searching Google news for ‘feathercoin’ or ‘UNOCS’. Was this a press release or an announcement?

RE: Good Time to Visit Feathercoin Facebook - Show your Support!
Be sure to also put a facebook like box on feathercoin.com, and you can probably even place a like box on the forums as well. You’ll get better exposure for the page.
http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like-box/
You can probably also do this with Twitter too.

RE: Market Beta details ...
Just curious why a commercial auction script is not used for the marketplace that has all these features built in (feedback, reputation, banning, etc., etc.).?
Could probably tie in the forum membership and register with forum credentials.

RE: PhenixPoker - Bug List
Yesterday I did have a weird bug where it didn’t show the hand cards dealt, or the table cards I think too, but def the hand cards were not shown after a deal. It only happened once.

RE: Scrypt (Litecoin) ASIC Prototype
At the end of the day they will make mining more accessible. This is common sense. There is no such thing as technology which makes things less accessible. Even current ASICs mine cheaper than GPUs - it is less expensive to mine now, not more.
It’s been over a year with the bitcoin ASICs and the only ASIC readily affordable AND available to someone right now (like buy now and get in a few days) is a USB block erupter at 333 M/hash. They still have not ironed out the whole process to make them readily available to any consumer, even though tens of millions of dollars have been poured into their businesses.
GPUs are readily available and affordable and that evens the playing field for all miners.

I have no doubt that Scrypt ASICs will one day hit us. However the post linked from BitcoinTalk is amusing and is a scam. For our grass roots community we would want to stay away from dedicated mining hardware and stay in the remit of GPU miners. This would probably take the form of a move to Scrpyt-Jane. At that point Bitcoin and Litecoin could rule SHA-256 and Scrypt respectively while we could rule Scrypt-Jane :)

RE: PhenixPoker - Bug List
In Chrome I get a page load error on edit profile.
In Chrome sometimes the raise the bet button doesn’t work (it disappears). The slider to raise the bet disappears and is not fixed unless you leave the table for a split second and then go back to the table.

ok thanks for the work put into this- it’s appreciated very much!

RE: \[ANN\] PhenixPoker - Partnership at it's Finest
Also I was under the impression that everyone would be together (not split into 3 different areas for the 3 different coins). What about buying in with your coin of choice for house chips that would be used in the game (like 1 FTC is 3, 1 PXC is 2, 1 WDC is 1, or whatever, I could have values back-asswards). You could then cash out in digital currency of choice. Just an idea to keep everyone together in one area regardless of digital currency used?

RE: \[ANN\] PhenixPoker - Partnership at it's Finest
nobody’s playing :( at least not the FTC one…

RE: Hmmm.. what are these 3 coins I see on this professional looking platform? :)
If you guys can get that up and running that would be pretty awesome. I had created an account earlier and was unable to login but it’s probably because of this overhaul.

RE: FTC Diff Change
The purpose of a long diff retarget is to allow profit without immediate new investment, especially if there’s a sudden influx. Our proplem was the hit and run.The closer an algorithm matches the difficulty to the hashrate, the less profit there is in providing the service.
I 100% disagree with this statement. Profitability is based on the current market value of a coin and its difficulty. With our current system we will continue to yo-yo from most profitable to completely pointless. With this yo-yo we will continue to go from fast transactions to much slower ones as well offering a very inconsistent experience for merchants trying to use our system. With these profit swings we will see more pump and dump behavior with people trying to make as much as they can in a short period rather than holding and investing.
If a coin becomes less profitable people will always move away from mining it. This will always result in a lower diff which will increase profitability until it hits equilibrium. If you adjust quicker you will lower the length of high profit but also bring the low profit periods down. You will have a much more stable block time and much more stable profitability. Trying to find an equilibrium with huge 41% swings is like trying to do Acid-Base Titrations by dumping Acids and Bases (up to 41% of your mixture volume) into your solution until you get it stable.
+1 I agree with RIPPEDDRAGON’s thoughts. I think peeps should listen to him/her.
