value is governed by supply and demand, market cap = value x total supply of coins.

i don’t know a lot about mastercoin but maybe the market cap is so high because the demand far outweighs the supply, there are currently only 550,000 available coins.

I bought in at .00066 and I saw the price drop to .00036 of a bitcoin that was half its original price, but you know what? I am not worried at all, I am in this long term, the price will come back up.

We are still in the very early days, be patient, it wont happen overnight.

As for important news, have you seen Kevlars Link thread? or Zerodramma’s Flux thread? they are not solely for feathercoin but its all good things happening.

Also, check out chrisj’s post on btc-e keeping the price down.

Please don’t make assumptions on how i feel, i have never felt like my investment has been threatened. Before my first post in this thread i was aware link would introduce other coins. My frustration came from the seemingly, lack of a proactive approach from the marketing team. chrisj has now clarified his position

This comment is ridiculous. I am saying the best way to promote feathercoin right now is by telling people about the product Kevlar created, so what ‘position’ am I putting him in? Also, if you had bothered to read my posts properly, you would realise that none of my comments were directed at him.

I don’t really feel it has begun though, its like asking 10 people or 1000 people what they think of the price point to publish, and just for example lets say 30% of those people think it is fair, those 30% will then go and tell their like minded friends and colleagues, so you could have 3 or 300 people promoting link and subsequently feathercoin. And not forgetting those other 700 who didn’t think it was fair but will still mention it to people who might.

surely that’s how marketing works, not everyone will buy a product but more people knowing about it will mean more people buying it, and as result of that, some of those 700 who didn’t think the price was fair, now do. Its funny how psychology works.

surely it is in our interest to spread it around as fast as we can, and an e-mail or announcement from a senior member of the feathercoin team carries far more weight than one from me.

is the marketing team doing all they can to promote link? I know it is still very early days but there doesn’t seem to be any big hype about it. I have e-mailed coindesk providing them a link to this thread, and I have been shouting about link going live on btc-e but no one seems to know what I am talking about.

I think it is important to try and create as much media interest as possible, especially in these early stages as feathercoin is the first coin to adopt it.

I am looking to buy some more feathercoin but I was thinking it might be better to wait till after jan 31st, as this is the Chinese deadline for payment processors to stop sending cny to trading platforms. I realise people will still be able to withdraw but they might pull out before then as a precautionary measure, and with no new money coming in I would imagine the bitcoin price will drop. thoughts?
