Hello and please please help
-
Okay so I am a newbie and I am stuck!!! I mine some bitcoin with bitminter (which is super easy I’m sure you know) and I even got litecoin working for a time…
Now I want to have a little go at feathercoin but I have tried and tried and tried and tried literally for 3 days straight trying every available guide I could find but to no avail…
Please help me out, I don’t know what is going wrong… If someone could hold my hand and walk me through that would be great…
I am on windows 7 and I mine with a 7970 for now…
Anything else you want to know please ask, it is really giving me a right headache! lol
-
Guys I know it sucks because this must get so tiring but please help me out cos I just do not know what I am doing wrong… I even can get the cgminer hashing by using the easycgconfig thing but then I dont get any accepted shares… I get a read out like A:0 R:0 HW:16…
Maaan, what the, grrrrrr…
I’m sure I won’t take up too much of your time.

Thanks for your reply dude but seriously something is really wrong because I have tried just firing up cgminer and entering the pool details but it just diappears, I have tried so many ways but non work at all… Honestly I know something is wrong cos it should be easy and I should have gotten it to work by now but it just wont have any of it… I’m sure I have the app sdk files installed (or whatever the are called)… Feel like reinstalling windows and all drivers cos I just don’t get it.

No you dont to reinstall, all you need is an account on a pool. :)
Join http://178.254.26.97:81/ or is http://www.fcpool.com/ … there you have your workers created, use the user creds for cgminer.
Pretty simple.
I have mined bitcoins with bitminter, I have that working no problem and I have a worker for that…
I have mined litecoins with pool-x no problem and i have a worker for that…
Point is I know about the workers and pools etc, that is not the problem, I have some bigger problem than that…
Oh and the pool I’m using for feathercoin is is a geek pool… I have the worker and all the credentials I have tried using guiminer cgminer every miner and way I possibly can but something must be wrong with my drivers or something cos I have checked what I input really carefully multiple times… I have followed multiple guides multiple times…
Honestly I have spent 3 days on this… I am not the sort to come running to the forums for nothing… There is something wrong

Then open a cmd, change to eg the cgminer folder and launch the bat file. What does it say? If you are fine with litecoins, any other miner MUST work. Its not an AMD SKD issue.
Okay this is good, but I don’t know what you mean lol… what is cmd? what is change to eg?
Well I haven’t mined litecoins for a while and I did have problems with that… At one point I downloaded some skd’s or something (again) and guiminer wouldn’t work… So I rolled back and then it did again… That is what makes me think there is a problem there again…
Like you say it MUST work, only it doesn’t… lol
So you cant mine LTC anymore? Reinstall. :)
No, I can’t right now, lol… Reinstall everything? Windows and all? Is there no way to just go back to factory settings? Even though I have searched for that in the past with no luck… I not long did a total reinstall but I do think I messed it up again already lol

Yep, never touch a running system.
I know I was kicking myself! Just trying to better my hashrate or something probably and now I have this major headache instead…
Anyway you have confirmed what I already knew I guess… Reinstall it is… Thanks for your time and if I get it all going I will come back and let you know… Cheers dude.

An remeber, keep AMD SDK as it is, its not worth the 0,002% more hashes the people have.
If it works for you, keep it. Youre welcome. :) Also, its handy to have an ISO around, just in case.
Well I feel asleep during the reinstall but I have completed it now aaaaannnnnddddd… Same damn problem OMG I’m gonna go insane!!!
I download cgminer, I download cgeasy, I fill in all the details into cgeasy and then I run the .bat file and it starts… Says long polling activated… I see my hashrate but there are no accepted shares, no rejected shares, only the HW field goes up… I just don’t get what I am doing wrong…

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I thought a fresh install would be the fix but seems it just doesn’t like me at all… What the hell am I doing wrong… I can’t do anything different… I have checked and double checked and checked again…
-
The other guy is probably not on here or just had enough of me lol… Is there anyone available to try and sort this out with me, any ideas at all for why this is happening would be great…
I get things like new block detected so I just don’t get why I am getting no shares…
Any help would be much appreciated
-
Right I just went and did a whole fresh install AGAIN and I’m still getting the same problem… I am using the latest AMD drivers 13.4 I believe, could that be the problem?
I am even trying reaper now and that doesn’t work either… There must be something really silly I’m doing but I am trying everything I can think of to get this going…
-
Think I am getting somewhere with reaper, it has started and stays on at least but now it says it can not connect and something about error code 6 cant get work or something… I’m nearly there guys I can feel it… Someone must know what the error is here…
I have checked all my login in details and tried different pools…
-
I have removed the http part of the URL in the conf and it is now just saying can’t connect to server and asking if it is down… Maybe it is? lol
I must be nearly there now though surely, what else can I try?
-
Right now I am trying gui miner and I have synced up with a pool as my hashrate is displayed on there! Whoop Whoop… Well, no… becauase apparently all my shares are stale… Anyone have a solution for this? Please?
-
No matter what I try I just get stale shares… I have tried multiple pools and they have all registered my worker as active and it displays my hashrate but it doesn’t report even the stale shares the miner is reporting… It is really odd… Obviously I am connected to the server but there must be something else wrong… Why am I just getting stales?
-
I have gotten a bit further and now I am getting accepted shares, in the miner at least… But these are not reflecting on the site… Oh and the getting started page on geek says to use port 8341 but if I use that I get only stales yet the site will register the worker as active and show hashrate…
But if I use port 3333 then I get accepted shares in the miner but the pool seems to not register me… LOL…

Newer cgminer builds with default settings don’t work for some people with 7970s, myself included… I can only get decent hashrate without HW errors on 2.11.2. Try downloading that version, create a .bat file in the cgminer folder and use a simple line like this (that’s the contents of the .bat file):
cgminer --scrypt -o -u -p -I 13 --shaders 2048
