hmmm… finally got debian wheezy to take to opencl and cgminer. no problems but it doesnt look like the typical cgminer. The menues and such are missing.See?

Probably you are missing the package ncurses, so the miner falls back to text only display.
If ncurses is installed you still can force the text display:
--text-only|-T Disable ncurses formatted screen output
Try an ‘apt-get ncurses’ and run the miner again
