3D printers

Ha ha live the idea. Its an expensive hobby. But there may be people on here that might want to make use of it. Can’t think of why off the top of my head tho :/

My work, Jaycar Electronics sells 3d printers… 20x20x20cm is all it does. Not sure if that’s any help.

Thats interesting, didn’t know Jaycar sold 3D printer.
This is the one I’m toying with getting

Jesus wow that looks pretty…
Certainly a lot more aesthetically pleasing than the Jaycar one. Which is $1,299.00

I’m holding off, so I can print me a .45 … :o

Add if you order from Wiltronics at the moment as its a pre-order it is actually $4 cheaper than the Jaycar one

ANd it also has lots of cool features most prints don’t, like self levelling, pause and resume functions.
Print down to 20um, the spools have a chip in them that stores all the print settings, so when you change print media it auto reconfigures averything for that media.
It also has a needle valve in the print head to stop stringing and as far as I’m aware this is the only printer that does that.

The advantage i suppose with the jaycar one is that if it fails you can walk into the shop and they will replace it on the spot under warrenty…
I’m assuming the Willtronics one would have to be posted off if anything went wrong with it.

That’s actually pretty important in my opinion.
I’m not into 3d printing but on the video of the jaycar one I did notice some pretty bad stringing…

Yes locally fix or send away, always needs to be factored into your decision, but living in Perth you get pretty much used to have to order in pretty much anything that isn’t a main stream item anyhow. :)
STill only thinking about it as its an expensive item.

I’m willing to bet jaycar might drop it’s price to about $1k around christmass.
Wait a little I suppose. Both will drop in price around that period anyway.
