Peer 2 Peer for All - Think Tank
-
Wanted to start this thread and stream ideas on the subject of poverty and crypto moving forward. I think the peer to peer exchange system is a fantastic mechanism to fight this universal hurdle by creating ‘strategic, specialized wealth’ for those that don’t have access to its physical form. Major non-profits should be turning to crypto right now for this opportunity. Technological infrastructure is the biggest challenge but let’s start breaking this problem down in an open forum and solve it. It will not be an equivalent to a fiat welfare program. It will be better.
Ideas not perfected, here we go:
[#1]: In villages with no computer access, hand out redeemable QR code cards that are backed by encrypted wallets holding digital currencies. This could stem from a new block chain and coin sponsored by non-profits with the means to mine at a loss, create the wallets, and monitor supply. First question: do you have to fix the value of the coin so as to not promote hoarding in the village? The next question becomes who should bear the weight of the value? The non-profits or the people? After all it isn’t worthless if it serves a means of exchange. Finally, should it be a simulated block chain already fully mined, making it nothing more then play money outside of the intended geographic area where it serves as ‘real’ money?

I think this is a great idea, however generally people would find that far too complicated. Correct me if I am wrong though ;D

The idea is novel but if we are talking about the worst effected communities that lack computer access, there’s a preexisting/underlying issue holding them back.
These paper QR codes, would have more real value to them as a form of fuel… The first real step is for these communities to have cost effective access to electricity.
The infrastructure is needed to be in place first.
One might say cheap power can’t even happen until the government in control of the country in question makes it happen.
If there’s no standard computer access. Then it means there’s no cost effective / easy to access electricity. If there’s no cheap power, then that means there’s an even bigger issue at hand.
If we could hypothetically air drop in solar panels, wind and water systems, geothermal gear, computers and hardware, manuals to help the people learn how to use the systems, etc so on and so forwards, your still gonna have to figure out how to deal with corruption and the most basic level of societal issue’s that have prevented them from having this gear in the first place…
I’d hate to say it, but maybe we should be focusing on helping the poor in area’s where they all ready have computer access readily and freely available to them.
I don’t mean to sound like a stick in the mud, but I’m not sure if giving crypto’s to villages without computer access will have much if any at all positive long lasting effects. They might just sell them on the cheap for food and fuel to much richer people who all ready have access to cheap power, food other essentials and computers.
