Hey guysWhere would I point my rig to for solo mining? I’m not sure where I find the IP/Username/Password of my client. :-\
You have to run the feathercoind and in that give it a config file that has the rpcuser, password and port in it. Those you can then use to point your mining software to :) -
How would one go about this using GUIMiner?

-windows:(i don’t do linux)
–install and run feathercoin client
–close client
–locate feathercoin directory using >start>run>%appdata%
–create feathercoin configuration file in notepad as follows: (change the user/ password values to whatever you want them to be:)
rpcuser=
rpcpassword=
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=9772
daemon=1
server=1
gen=0–save this file as: feathercoin.conf (be sure to save it in the appdata feathercoin directory)
–relaunch feathercoin client and let it finish synchronizing with the network
–point mining client of your choosing to http://127.0.0.1:9772 with the user / password you assignedmine away. although i recommend joining a pool at this difficulty level
try: http://www.fcpool.com/ 0% fee - PPLNS 8) -

So is there an ideal hash rate for solo mining?
-
For kicks, I started cpu solo mining while gpu pool mining. I’m getting about 30-35 KH/s on i7 860 … roughly 5 KH/s per thread @ 7 threads. 4 threads also worked well for me.
How long would it take to find a block solo mining at 15k/s and what’s the reward per block?
http://calc.feathercoin.com/ Enter your hashrate and other values in here and you can find an “average time to find block” output

Everybody was So-Lo mining
Hash rates were fast as lightning
ASIC made it a little bit frightning
But they fought with po-ol mining -

Is it worth solo mining when the difficulty goes down?

Is it worth solo mining when the difficulty goes down?
It depends on what your hashrate is, if it is lower 10Mhash don’t bother, join a pool, unless your feeling lucky,
some days (when I feel lucky) I solo mine with my 2.7Mhash rig but I have had no luck yet, my luck seems better on a pool.Next difficulty is in the low 90’s.
That rpcport didnt work but I changed the port to the following an it was fine.
rpcport=9337I have been solo mining for 3 days now and its at least 3 times more profitable for me than pool mining. Can’t wait for the diff to drop, should even be better then. Hope my luck holds.
Does anyone know how do you assign a payment address of your choice when solo mining?
-
I am an enthusiastic proponent of solo-mining. I find it largely immune to DDOSing (unlike pools), and very easy to set up. I do recommend that you add a p2pool with stratum as a cheeky backup pool to ensure that you are notified of new blocks promptly (which you can do in cgminer by specifying a second -o -u- and -p).
Some people will be put off by the variance, but as long as you plan to be mining for a few multiples of the expected time for a block with your hashrate (so practically everyone), this variance will quickly even out, and you won’t be penalised for starting and stopping, as you would be with PPLNS, or have withdrawal thresholds and fees. It’s important to think about it in terms of probability, in that the longer you do it for, the more it will tend to the expected value. And difficulty is only going to decrease in the near future, which will make variance even less of an issue.
