Future Forum Moderation of Personal Attacks

I am not going to run a forum where personal attacks are accepted any more. My reason for starting a coin was to create a community that was friendly and welcomed anyone no matter what their skill set was. I would not regard myself as a professional programmer but with others we have achieved great things over the years.
To make sure that a community remains friendly you need to moderate flame wars and stop hate campaigns. Otherwise the tone will become anything but friendly. I have seen the damage that trolls can do, these people can be extremely hostile and look to divide communities and make people’s lives utterly miserable.
To combat this, the following needs to happen.
- First offence, personal attack removed and the offender warned.
- Second offence, personal attack removed and the offender temporary banned.
- Third offence, personal attack removed and the offender permanently banned.I failed in my mission to create a friendly community. Flame wars and hate campaigns were allowed to go unhindered. I do not play dictator so if I could not get the approval of the Feathercoin team to remove content I would not do it.
The end for me was a hate campaign targeted directly against me by one member which divided the team and turned people I thought were friends against me. Again this attack was tolerated and I was not able to remove the personal attacks.
As personal attacks against me were tolerated I am afraid that I had to leave Feathercoin. To be honest I’m not very thick skinned and I took these things very personally, the attacks were grossly unfair and there was nothing that I could do. What was equally upsetting is that no one thought it was necessary to stop or remove these very personal attacks against me and I was not allowed to remove them either. My position was then untenable so I left Feathercoin. My last posts was here.
I still host the Feathercoin website and forum but I am not going to host a forum that allows personal attacks. The forum is back online and the Feathercoin Team will remove personal attacks made over time against all users. As long as the forum is moderated and abuse of users is not allowed then I will keep hosting the forum.
