VoidSpace - The Dogecoin MMORPG
-
This is what I wanted to see done with Feathercoin a while back, but it hit some snags.
VoidSpace is giving it a shot using Dogecoin and it sounds/looks promising.

This is a fantastic idea. Perhaps we should be reaching out to indie game devs to who might benefit from the technology for in app purchases and game world currency.
-
I actually wrote to Steam a while ago as I would love to purchase my steam indie games with Feathercoin, maybe we need to start reaching out to people again.

It’s crazy Steam don’t accept crypto, though humble bundle does, which I tend to get all my steam games from anyways
May be worth approaching them to see if they’d accept FTC alongside BTC? https://www.humblebundle.com/
If someone like that would accept it, Steam may look more favourably in the future?
I still know a couple of the EQ2 devs, i’ll poke them a bit, see what their thoughts on crypto are, I mean SOE use in game “gold” anyways, the opportunities to tie it all to in game items and merchandise is pretty big I would think

Update: Sony online ent enjoy staying in the dark ages it seems, for a games company of it’s size/status they can’t comprehend what Bitcoin is :o
But that still doesn’t help the fact I have a pile of FTC to spend and Steam summer sale started yesterday! pffff their loss!
Did Feathercoin actually try approaching any games companies in particular?
May be worth me building a list of games companies operating out of Dundee and give them a shout?
Anyways, enough for now, time for a couple of hours in WarThunder, those tanks don’t grind themselves 8)

AFAIK this is as close as we got.
There is another thing to consider. Dogecoin “may” die in a few months (skip to 19m).
Personally I don’t think that will happen, but it’s a real possibility.
Perhaps if that were to happen, Feathercoin could very opportunistically jump in to save the day for this game (which is ~18 months from release).

Right, do you guys have a system of exchange setup already?
I mean, say if I was a business and I wanted to sell “stuffs” for FTC, does Feathercoin have a system in place that I can instantly have it exchanged to $/£ ?
Shop is fictional as you may have gathered…BUT, explain it, please, in Feathercoins words, how is this achieved?
I’ll happily fire off some letters or make some phone calls, hell I’ll even print up some fact/data sheets to take around shops in my town and do some cold calling.
I realise this is slightly off topic, but it’s related I guess, because I think the games distributors would be a better target for now, would they not?

Nope, and it’s a fair demand. A sort of “BitPay” equivalent, since the way those of us are setting it up in the background right now is convoluted (Coinpayments -> exchange -> coinbase). Some of us have the willingness, but not the capital; some of us live in America and are all nothankyou.gif because of AML and KYC laws.
as for OP:
MMORPGs are big and complicated, and to justify the existence of one through a currency is shaky at best. A MOBA or FPS, heck even a proof of concept top down shooter like a PvP Asteroids style game is easier to test the waters on if people are wanting to play games with crypto as a measurement of their skill/value/reward system or not.
