As I type this we have dropped to 17th on coinmarketcap below Novacoin, with a price of 13p per FTC. This is very worrying I am afraid, you can gloss over it as much as you like but the facts are right there.Someone mentioned sustained long-term growth but in the last two months since the price spike it has been pretty steady and sustained contraction. I just hope we do not see anything bad happen that could push this further because I’m not sure what will happen if it goes down too far.
Your best bet is to move on for now and come back if things start moving forward. As much as people defend FTC, there is really nothing that it falls back on. There are extremely high amounts for sale at various exchanges with little to no buy orders to compliment. They can speak as much as they want about where it will be for their “long term growth” but from what you can clearly see as of late, there is nothing to look forward to anytime soon. The fact of the matter is that FTC is slowly falling off at the moment and there is little to no interest in it from any angle, except this “community”.

Where is FTC cheapest?
-
I see these price drops as a feathercoin community sieve, a much needed one from what I have been reading and well worth it.

I don’t want that blood my hands ({looks at avatar} …feet?). There’s not some magic formula that’s going to make you feel better about any decision you make at the end of the day.
-
I’ll be bluntly honest. The marketplace decides what wins or fails. There’s not a lot going on volume wise with feathercoin which is both good and bad. People are holding, but not buying. There’s minimal transactions.
Feather is on a springboard right now, but it’s not ready to make the jump. The innovations going on within the community I feel are ahead of their time. If you want this token to get more useful find a niche market for it. The feathercoin marketplace is a good start and I use it to sell FTC merchandise. T-shirts, mugs, branded mouse pads, whatever gets in peoples faces. This coin is designed to be an every day currency and the ftc-marketplace should reflect those values. As ChrisJ would put it, can I buy a loaf of bread? Maybe. Get on board with supermarkets and maybe find a way to issue store vouchers/credits for some FTC and list them in the marketplace. That way they don’t have to invest in the technology en masse, one wallet can handle the requests. I think if anything should be added is a way to go straight to BTC (I would say fiat but that’s problematic), and from there you can link into coinbase and the UK equiv to fund the vouchers with fiat.
Just a thought.
-
Well I guess they can with Buttylicious now in the UK. There’s no good US fiat exchange for FTC at the moment, and if we never get a good one I’d be fine with that. I’d be fine with FTC taking over all of the EU and never touching us here in the states. Not being mean, just saying if it never reaches the US in such fashion but penetrates the UK it will have succeeded.
-
People that have FTC want to get rid off it and no one is buying. On this forum people involved have their one interest at stake and will of course not give you an objective view.
I too think FTC have a future, but one also has to realize the situation at some point. Hold maybe around 10-15 % FTC and buy up when the tide turns.

The feathercoin marketplace is a good start
The feathercoin marketplace is a horrible start. It’s basically a place where people are selling useless or old junk (with the odd exception) that nobody wants to buy. I find it hilarious how people keep saying that we need to start using feathercoin as an actual currency and the only place they can point to is that marketplace, which is basically an online garage sale.
-
There’s this site too … https://cryptothrift.com/
I’ve paid a few contract laborers in FTC in the past. I donate with FTC. I’ve sold a few items on the marketplace in FTC. I’ve found quite a few uses. -
Yes this is the reason why BTC got so valuable, sites like Silk Road gave people a reason to buy BTC. If we had a slick marketplace, people would have a reason to buy FTC. That’s gonna take time, money and operational clout. The best thing we could ever do is trade some FTC for money, buy some real world goods that all miners want, powered risers etc and try to push the currency that way.
The marketplace is key to our future…
I also have sold a few things for FTC on the market place, and also donated in FTC , purchased rounds of drinks with FTC and also payed someone for work they have done for me in FTC. I am not to worried about price, although I feel the current exchange rate into fiat is because of the GOX news and the declining price of Bitcoin.
FTC is a usable currency. -
To be fair my last post is actually how I feel and I wasn’t really trying to convince you to keep your coins or stay with the community. But for all those in this thread who think the coins on its way down and there is no innovation etc etc. Why are you still here. Just to bitch and moan?
-
Keep the faith people, and today speak to two people about CC and the Feather :)
Theres some very good information on this site coupled with the knowledge you have that should enable you to explain it to them. If all of the active people on the forum does this, and only 1% of the people spoken to show an interest and then get involved, we would see an extra 1-2 people a day joining in and taking part.
I agree that right now it does look a bit bleak, I’ve seen the price drop by 50% whilst I have been active here! but you must remember that Rome was not built in a day. The dev’s are working in the background on some very interesting stuff, others are working their hardest to promote the coin.
So maybe it’s time to ask what can I do to help out? Think of 1 idea to promote the coin, and then talk about it, get others involved to help refine the idea, follow your idea up and encourage others to re-use the same idea in their area.
Promotion = Awareness = Adoption
-
Suppression in the market brings fatigue to the community. It is tough to break out of this and will take time. We are constantly getting more support out there and we have plenty more good news coming up. It is frustrating that the market does not seem to take much notice of the progress we make as a price rise would be seen as a mark of confidence.
The bright side is that Feathercoin can be considered cheap right now.
-
Rome isn’t build in a year, so do BTC (5 years old now!) and even LiteCoin. :P
As long as we keep pushing and pushing and pushing, we’ll be noticed.
-
I would love to run the FTC Market, stock it with crypto mining equipment, order in from China in bulk and drip feed it out to get people buying FTC…
Being in Australia though I’m not sure people are going to want to cover the postage costs…
-
For selfish reasons, I’m glad the price has dropped a bit. It just allows me to scoop more up when people decide to jump ship. There are some very talented people doing some amazing things in this community. The people that I’ve talked to in this community are awesome and that is enough for me. I don’t worry about the current valuation that’s been stamped on FTC any given day. I tell people about what I’ve got going on, without being to assertive, and rely on my personal influence and trust that I’ve build with them to get them to invest their time.
I was going to wait and make some sort of announcement, but this seems like an appropriate time/place. As some may know, I work at a screen printing shop in Jackson, MI. We’ve started accepting FTC and some other CCs on one of our t shirt websites. Starting next week, we will be accepting FTC for anything that we sell at the shop. Custom orders and our other shirt websites included. I will be getting some signage going and integrating a 3rd party service to make the transactions run smoothly starting Monday.
We’re just one small brick and mortar shop, but merchant adoption is going to be huge moving forward.
It’s a microcosm of eBay. Have you wandered around on eBay separate from your immediate interests? You have one guy going really gung-ho putting his wares up there, and I’m sick of looking at records and postcards but I can’t blame him for making something happen --it’s entirely what the site is there for.By that same token, we have threads every couple of weeks where someone goes “well, what do people WANT on the marketplace?” and I rarely see people contribute to those.
I could fill that marketplace with every dropship piece of equipment or electronics that appeals to this demographic but would that even make people happy?
I’ve been doing some sums, and I’m damn close to ordering bulk mining bits and bobs from China. Even with postage from Australia, I can make some money selling in FTC and it will be good for the currency…
