Great idea but I think we should wait until after uncle muddys charity raffle
Yes that’s understandable … Would really like to see something like this in the forum in future though. It could really create an extra feel good factor in the forum, a bit of weekly excitement wondering who is going to win this week :)
Additional thoughts and ideas on the subject:
1. I think it should be one entry per forum member per week (so everyone has an equal chance to win)
2. Should only cost 1 FTC to enter (makes it as accessible as possible for everyone)
3. The entries can be easily organised by simply numbering the incoming 1 FTC transactions since the previous draw, then a random number can be drawn, possibly by another member of the admin team, which will determine the winner. The winners wallet address can be published on a stickied prize draw thread then the funds sent
I was thinking that one person (who does not enter) could have a bucket and a bunch of ping pong balls with the numbers on. Maybe it could even be arranged for a live webcam feed. Although I could be over complicating things he he
As long as it is done by trusted admin members who cannot play then I think forum members will trust it

We had something like this few months ago. Markus1337 ran lottery draws, hmm…where did he go? ???
I do not know. It was just before I joined. I never seen a lottery or draw. I do think it is important that it is run by the forum admin so that everyone knows it is genuine and official …

I would really like to see an official lottery or prize draw that is organized by one of the admins. It could be like 1 FTC to enter and every single week we can have one lucky forum member scoop the pot. Or even a few winners depending on how many enter and the size of the prize pool.
Please please make this happen :)
Great idea, I was talking thru ideas with a couple of friends over the weekend and this came up and has been put on the growing list of things to talk to ChrsJ, Ruthie, and others admins about.
Watch this space your wishes may just come true ;)
Yeah…
Without going into any detail, I don’t think a lottery is worth time or effort at this given stage.
Maybe in the future, but not now. Just my opinion.

If community doesn’t have anything against the fact that the person who will organize the draws and everything keeps certain percentage of prize funds for himself, then it would probably work fine, I guess?
Well… As long as it is maintained by a staff member who is able to run it and make sure it runs smoothly, then I suppose if people wish to gamble then it’s up to them.
I’m not stressed, I just don’t want to see it detract from more pressing work.
Go hard people.
@iawgoM. Did you want to run it? Or do you know any staff who take this on? It does have it’s merits but I wish to focus my time energy else where.

I was thinking more of a bonus ball style lottery, similar to the ones run here in the UK buy pubs, clubs, etc to raise a small amount of funds for a good cause (link back to the other charity stuff we are doing)
So something simple like 49 numbers, 5 held back from sales to create roll-overs, 4 held back as charity positions, 1FTC in payout for you number the current pot which could be 40FTC or more if there have been roll overs. If the number is a charity number the pot gets transferred to them, for now this would be the cancer charity but once we have done the donation for that in April, the pot would roll onto the next chosen charity if you understand what I mean.
I’m happy to work on setting it up and running it if you lot are happy to trust me to do so, but your going to need to give me a couple of days as I’m mopping up a major incident at “real work” and have a bit of other work left to sort out on the cancer charity thing.
Let me know your thoughts

I would be interested in knowing the exact math behind of all this.
If you wanna run it, I think you would do a good job.

You have my vote for a Lottery :) … I slap 1FTC for a ticket,

I am well pleased that there seems to be a general interest in doing this. Anything to add to the excitement of the forum is good.
I do think that some people are trying to over complicate matters though. Why not just simply allocate each entry with a number and then draw the winner from a hat …?? Also I know the charity thing is honourable but this could just be not for profit/charity and just all divided for prizes …
Just a bit of fun to give something back to the forum members and create a feelgood factor …
Just my .01 FTC worth ;)
