Best Exchange Site?

The big U.S. exchange (Cryptsy) is the one I trust the least right now. They need to get their site fixed. Unless something has changed overnight, deposits and withdrawals are still taking 10 hours to go through, trades are either taking hours or not registering at all, orderbooks are hours out of date.Three exchanges that work and work well for what they are, in order, BTC-e, Crypto-Trade, and Vircurex. But, well, one of them is in Russia, one in Hong Kong, and one is I’m not sure where, so if the U.S. is your preference you’re probably stuck with Cryptsy. Good luck. I’m tired of trying to get anything to go thru on that site and am finished with it.
I’ve heard bad things about BTC-e with there customer service and issues with withdrawls. Also, don’t they require banking information? If they do I REALLY don’t trust any Russian based institution. I may take a look at Crypto-Trade later depending on if CoinMKT goes through.

Well i’m switching to Crypto-Trade. Thanks for the advice.

I had a very bad experience with Vircurex where I couldn’t withdraw anything for almost a week. As soon as they got their services back online I took my coins and went to Cryptsy.

I should mention, those three sites are mentioned are great if you only want to upload cryptocurrencies and trade them against other cryptos.
If you want to transfer USD in from the U.S. to trade with then no, I do not recommend attempting it on BTC-e. Haven’t tried it myself but I’ve read there are too many problems getting it there.
The best bet for buying BTC with USD from the U.S. is Coinbase but they require you to link your bank account. The best used to be Bitinstant and they used Moneygram to take your payment rather than taking any banking information, but they are down and nobody knows when their supposed relaunch is going to be.

Again if you’re talking about getting USD onto the site from the US, Crypto-Trade may not be what you’re looking for either. From outside of the U.S. is probably fine. They take OKPAY, PerfectMoney, and Payeer. I don’t know anything about Payeer, but the other two do not accept U.S. customers last I checked no thanks to the govt’s absurd war on offshore banking.

When I was looking at it I am pretty sure they said that they accept Paypal which is perfect for me ;D

Yes…they show PayPal on their front page but they only allow PayPal for withdrawals, not deposits. Plus the fee is 9% for using PayPal. See here https://www.crypto-trade.com/fees

Re Vircurex, I’ve never had a problem with them. I’ve heard stories though. Best I can tell it’s a one man show with a low trading volume. Also I do not know of any way to get USD onto or off that site right now since they only accepted VouchX, and VouchX was discontinued months ago.

A friend of me bought/traded BTC for FTC using btc-e for me which worked instantly without any problems, not sure how it’s reputation is for withdrawals tho.
BTC-e is fine for both deposits and withdrawals of FTC, BTC, etc. It’s trying to deposit or withdraw USD that I keep seeing complaints about which is why I wouldn’t attempt it.

Also BTC-e is located in Russia which is known for its corruption meaning that if at some point they do try to pull something then everything associated with the website would be compromised. Including all of your bank information.
