As we know, there’s so much misinformation out there about Feathercoin. My goal was to create a FUD document that basically addresses any of the common critiques we hear in the crypto community. For example:
-Feathercoin is a pre-mine.
-There’s no need for the coin, we have Bitcoin.
-There’s no community behind the coin.etc… etc…
1. I collected the responses and put it into an FAQ style document (thank you again for the responses)
2. I emailed the developer concerning the project
3. I shared it out on Google docs, allowing him to clean it up.
4. I offered to either transfer Feathercoinmyths.com to someone in the community with this information or just host the page (I’m not a web developer)Here’s my vision:
Anti-Feathercoin Person: Blah Blah Blah pre-mine
Community: It wasn’t a pre-mine, this question was already addressed in Item 5 at www.feathercoinmyths.com.
A consistent community message! In my opinion, while it’s important to handle FUD, we could spend our time focused on furthering the development of Feathercoin. Documents such as this help cut down the time wasted on combating obvious attempts to smear it. In addition, it’s all a great way for us to spread this information as people do searches concerning the coin.

I really must get on this, so much technical work to do first. The latest FUD comes from two places, first, “blockchain bloat”. A lot of people do not seem to realise that the block chain goes on forever and that this effects all coins. There are interesting technical solutions to this. People have got used to this and often use online wallets. I’d be interested to see if a solution to this ever makes it into one of the coins. This is something all the coins would adopt if found to work.
Second, the first genesis block and lack of checkpoints in old clients. We have checkpoints to stop a fake chain being pushed on to Feathercoin. Original clients will not have these checkpoints but it is worth noting that the majority of clients downloaded are after the checkpoints were added. The pools are updating their code on request and that is where the hashing power is. There really is no concern here.

Any chance you could copy that Google doc text here or link us to it?
I’m assuming the document is already prepared, just looking for a home. I can post it on my blog if you like, until you can find a home. It would make it easier to paste a link to the FUD doc in the troll box than trying to come up with a witty response 30 times an hour. ;)
