Idea to get more users

If you want to start it Smoothie I’ll send you some coins over say 500? = 100 @ 5 or what ever denomination you feel would be best…
I honestly do not want to do it. At the moment I have other projects I am working on as well as discussion on the forums.
Perhaps someone else would like to take on the task? I can donate another 500 FTC on top of UKMark’s. So that would be 1000 FTC between the two of us.
PM me if someone accepts to do this as I may miss this thread with all that is going on on this forum =)

Guys I have 100 FTC in the official donation bank if you need it send me a PM ;)

I’ll do the giveaway. Send to my donation address and let me know how you guys want to do the distribution.FTC: 6gYgwums4n36Y78gv6n1i3An8h6SLV89S7
I can kick in 100 as well. Perhaps 5 coins per person as previously mentioned?
Also, I know there are going to be a ton of junk accounts on bitcointalk from the giveaways like the one opencoin did, what account registration date should I be requiring? Post count?
Yeah maybe 5 posts? Then again what does everyone else think would be best?..
I would maybe bump the ‘new user’ thread from the alt coin section too!
Me too, it’s not that I don’t want to I simply can’t do what I am doing at the minute due to only 24 hrs in a day. :-\
That’s sound, so at least 1100 - Markus you can keep that 100 it would be better served for other things + it looks a tad lonely in that wallet mate :D
I’m happy for D2 to do this should he want to, I’ll send him my 500 once we have the fine details sorted…
I would rather not bump the new user board as I would prefer to have restricted user registration date of AT LEAST a month ago since there have been many floods of new accounts created just to leech as many coins as possible during giveaways.
My idea was a thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=67.0
Including a link to FeatherCoin - Getting started, create a wallet! since sheepson did a great job on that write up, a short message encouraging everyone to drop in and say hi on our forums, and of course mentioning our beta feathercoin market.
Tbh it was Smoothies idea that I liked as we have already done the alt-coin section… I dunno what do other users think? Smoothie u der?..
Agree with a link to that thread though! 8)

Good idea :)

Here’s BobBlast’s Feathercoin giveaway thread:

Ok! New users board it is then. Should there even be a post count restriction then if we are targeting the new accounts?
I can see your point also :) That is why I suggested a bump link thread from the alt-section = Best of both worlds? New crypto users and established ‘well hay maybe I might try FTC’ users.
Set a minimum of 1 weeks membership and 5 x non ‘bump my stats posts’?.. Or… -

Perhaps have them sign up here as a user as well as a requirement?
That might work too. I’ll send the 500 FTC one we have all the details sorted out.
-
Hmm… Maybe we can give 3 coins per sign up but then also offer like a 250 Feathercoin prize?
How it would work is it would end randomly between a range of 3-5 days, and if the user has made at least 5 legitimate posts and has logged in a day or two before the selected drawing day, they would receive the prize? It gives people a reason to participate for a while after they’ve signed up, and I don’t think a 3 coin sign up is really going to motivate people to make a ton of dummy accounts to “get rich”.
I’ll also donate some coinage to the cause :)
EDIT: Sent you 649 to the donation address, thanks for volunteering to do it d2!
-
Not a problem, just can’t wait to see our forums overtake Litecoin’s in terms of activity :) And glad I could give you that idea!
-
I’d give out coins after they have completed some activism not just a couple post
We want more active based community!!
Cheers -
Yeah that would work too along with asyrs+tsunami idea as one…Ok D2 go for it! I’ll send the funds over now…
As for getting banned If they do then we could have a field day with the publicity :D < I really don’t think they would though! 8)
Just post your final plan of action so we all now what the script is…

Yeah we may want to rethink the FTC forum account creation requirement. I think we will get banned or the thread will be removed.
Just saying I can see the possibility of that happening.
So what if people get multiple coins…
Just make it so that each user gets 0.5 FTC then if someone is that eager to get 10 FTC so be it…let them go make 20 accounts lol.
-
Okay I sent 500 FTC to 6gYgwums4n36Y78gv6n1i3An8h6SLV89S7.
Yea, I did kinda expect to get banned since that’s pretty much incentivizing users to leave bitcointalk.
OMG 0.5 each? That’s 3500 users with the current pot at 1750! What happened to 5 FTC each? Could we at least bring it up to 2 FTC? That will still be 875 transactions for me to record.
Keep it at 1 FTC per account. Too little for spammers to get really excited and enough for new users to get interested. A whole coin :) BTW, the pot is going to last for a long time this way.
-
1 FTC is fine. I think that will incentivize users to setup an account download the client and post an address.
Sounds good. :)
-
Sounds and looks good to me.
Any other input guys?
