\[PRJLEAD\] Kevlar will lead miner relations
-
I’m proud to announce Kevlar is stepping up to the plate to handle miner relations. I’ll let him make a post about his credentials… we’re in great hands. :)

Woot! Kevlar :)

Hey everyone! Great to be here, and thank you for the opportunity.
I read the Satoshi whitepaper back when it was initially released because it made it’s way onto a mailing list I frequented, and I immediately became fascinated with the concept of a distributed transaction log that could not be counterfeited, because this solved a fascinating problem in computer security called “non-repudiation” that so often plagued my security architectures in ways I didn’t yet know how to address. I bought my first Bitcoins for $13 dollars a piece, back when 20$ was a lot for one. I’ve been a miner ever since, although most dedicated miners setup’s would dwarf my meager setup, but that hasn’t stopped me from getting deep into the code base for bitcoin and writing a few experimental pieces of software, a few of which you can find at my Github repo, here: https://github.com/TSavo
I’ve been coding professionally for 16 years, and using computers for over 25 years. My first computer was an Apple ][+. I ran BBS’s back in the days on my 2400 baud modem, all the way up to the 56k when I switched over to doing IRC over PPP, and Gopher. I’ve watched the web get invented, grow, and blossom into the amazing place it is today. I’ve designed quite a few games and software systems in my time. I build the first video transcoding farm for iFilm.com 3 years before youtube was invented. I’ve worked on MMO games most of you have likely played, owned an indie game studio, have several patents in my name for several telecommunication, storage, and music making technologies, written algorithmic trading systems to do day trading on the stock market, and generally hacked apart every piece of technology I’ve ever come across until I understood it. I’ve smashed the stack for fun and profit on more than a few occasions, so you can talk dirty tech to me and I’ll keep the pace. When I’m not spending time on reddit/r/bitcoin, bitcointalk.org, and here, I’m usually hacking away at something bitcoin, be it something to break brainwallets (again, check my repo), coin tumblers, and other bits of code to see what limits of cryptocurrencies can be bent or broken. I’m also working on a new design for a cryptocurrency to make mining more profitable by changing the nature of the proof of work system into something that offers more tangible value that I call “proof of availability”. I hope to complete it before the year is out. Presently I’m director of technology for a cloud company that writes software to manage large clouds for enterprises, and when I say large clouds I mean millions of CPUs and when I say enterprises I mean telephone companies. Again, you can find that code in my github repo. As a result I have a very deep and abiding understanding of the exact nature of the specific needs and pains of miners, cryptocurrency holders, and communities who manage the two.
I got involved with Feathercoin exactly one month ago yesterday, because I saw something different about it. First of all, I feel very strongly that cryptocurrencies are the future of all value exchange mechanisms, and that to be of maximum value, they need to be pushed to their most extreme limit and then beyond until all the possible exploits are well and truly addressed. That means experimenting, and due to the nature of the internet, these experiments can be conducted on a grand scale with a completely fair democratic process declaring the winners and the losers. Feathercoin is one such experiment, and while the technicals are solid and these iterations of different settings need to be tried out, what’s even more solid is the support being offered from the community. I’ve seen alt-coins come and go. Watched 'em fade into the background without much interest. Litecoin caught my eye because it seemed to get rapid adoption from all over the place, and I liked the idea of faster transactions, and firmly believe that it’s completely undervalued, and technically worth more than Bitcoin due to it’s faster confirmations. Feathercoin positioned itself to be even faster than that, which I thought was interesting, but what was more interesting was watching it’s adoption: Practically overnight exchanges were trading it, sites were popping up all over the place, and the community at large was taking a lot of interest; It was like Litecoin on crack the way people flocked to it. And then the difficulty hiked too high, and all the miners switched to the next alt coin… but unlike all the other alt-coins that died a painful death, Feathercoin’s community was already established due to some outstanding leadership. That same leadership continued to find ways to make it viable, and THAT is what makes Feathercoin is damned interesting; interesting enough that I’ve converted a sizable portion of my BTC holdings into FTC.
Which brings us to today. We’re now days away from seeing miners come flocking back to the scene, and we need Bushstar focused on the code base, so I’m going to attempt to relieve him of some of his responsibilities of supporting the miners and the pool operators. We’ve got the new version of the software that I think every pool has gotten onto, but I’m gonna try and confirm that over the next 24 hours. As a constant users of these pools, it’s in my best interest to see them operating as well as they can be, and make sure that miners know about them, have access to them, and are pointing as much hash power as possible to them, so that’s what I’m here to do! Please feel free to PM me with any questions you may have, and I’ll be seeing a lot more of you all in the mining forums.
And again, thank you to justabit and bushstar for their amazing work. It’s because of them that this coin remains relevant and valuable, and will continue to do so.

Very nice read, good to have you here!

That was pretty inspirational! You kind of made it sound like FTC WILL take over the world one day!
