Haha, congratulations Tuck Fheman, I’ve still not found a block at all and my friend (who gets 4-5x less hashrate than me) has already found two >w<

I’ve been pool mining @ 365 KH/s since 5/3 and contributed my first block on 5/13 and another a short time ago. I finally feel like I’m doing something. lel
I saw that indeed! We are doing around the same KH/s so i might be next ::)
-
That’s great :) I have also found 2 blocks since I’ve started mining FTC
-
Thanks!
I’m new to mining so if this is stating/asking the obvious, be gentle on me … the past three days I’ve left my miner up 99% of the time and I found 2 blocks.
Before that I was shutting the miner down for a few hours at a time 3-4 times a day and found nothing in 10 days.
Does it help to stay connected for extended periods of time, without breaks?
Will even a small break influence anything, outside of payments in a pool?

Congrats on finding the blocks :)As to your questions, nope, it’s luck. You might find it with 1 kh/s or with 100 Mh/s. You might find it with one accepted share or with the ten millionth. Having more speed is just you submit more “tickets to the lottery” and have a higher chance of being the winner.
But pool mining is exactly that, we throw all our tickets in a pool and when the pool wins, we all do.
Yeah it’s just luck. During those hours of shutting down the machine you were unable to collect any lottery tickets though :)

Congratulations!

Damn, they just marked my first block as - Invalid -. Never seen that, but it was holding at 119 confirmations for a long time. I wonder what happened.

Yeah, sorry about that. Had to adjust the server side script to accommodate such instances (orphan blocks). This was caused because two pools / miners found a solution to the target at roughly the same time. The more difficult solution is the one that is used for the rest of the block chain which rendered your found block as invalid thus resulting in no confirmations / reward once the other one was submitted.
Sad news. My first born was invalid and is now an orphan. :'(
During this time of sorrow, for my HD7850 and me, please send any donations to Tuck Fheman’s Invalid Orphan Fund here …

Thank you.

You would be correct :P
I should be up 24/7 now though. Besides a blip last night whereby my computer turned off. =w= -
I started hijacking a friends computer while he’s at school, so I’m getting another 175-200 KH/s each morning. :P
