Shock and awe campaign

Hey all,
Regarding media exposure. I’m a 3D Generalist (I’ve introduced myself previously on other posts). I’d like to be part of any movement but there is a small problem when saying “I’m willing to offer my skill set” and then being told “Just do something you think would be good for the community”.
There needs to be direction for people like myself to be of any real use. Without any kind of plan for content creation anything I do or anyone else for that matter may resort in an overlap with something that has been already been done. The “Calling 3D Animators” was an example of this. In addition, myself or anyone else just making stuff up may not be an effective utilization of our time, maybe our output ends up not being used or is not actually required. You see where I’m going with this :)
Someone needs to dictate (marketing team) solid, well thought out marketing material. A set of requirements, a concrete concept and clear direction as to what is wanted and how it is wanted. Then for example I can go off and make it, send it back for feedback, make alterations and by the end we end up with rock solid, relevant, new and required material that can actually be rolled out and used. Not a mismatched or random spur of the moment jumble of art work that may or may not be used atall. 3D is anything but quick. Designing, Modelling, Texturing, Rigging, Animating and Rendering can be HUGELY time consuming and thus misuse of time and no direction can lead to a complete failure with not just a few hours or a day but instead weeks worth of hard work down the toilet.
Basically someone needs to take charge and lead. Then a post can be made once a plan has been made listing exactly what is needed and when it is needed by. From there progress for FTC media exposure will really begin to start moving but without solid plans and milestones none of these great ideas will come to light, totally undermining the great talent pool and friendly community we have…IMHO.
In my job someone comes to me and says “I need this by then”, I make it happen and alot of people in my field are the same. A concept is created, a director and concept artist/s work out what they want then it gets passed on to be “physically built”. Some people can do all of the above but it is a rare thing for someone to handle both concept work and implementation and get it right… especially if you have no idea what it will be used for.
All the best! I like this thread, as it has already been said lets build up some momentum again! :D

A very valid point. I’ve mentioned this previously, that a project ‘roadmap’ would be really helpful for people who have skills but don’t know where they can get involved.

Agreed, whilst decentralised currencies are a wonderful concept, decentralised leadership is wishy washy…
