Issues with PXC?

… our price is almost double what it was shortly before the NYC Bitcoin Conference.
I can’t deny the fact you bring up, but perhaps to be fair we should mention “why” it doubled? ;)

What I am curious about is:1. Who is the developer of the UNOCS bridge and other future services?
2. If it is indeed “Mike” are there other developers working with him or is he working solo?
3. Is anyone auditing or checking on his progress / how do we know he is actually building functional code?
I think these are some important points.
A little googling cleared up 1 and 2.
1. His name is quoted in the media as Mike Burns, aka Mike69, aka iamatrix.
2. It was initially claimed that it was a ‘team of developers’ who were working on Bridge, but it was later revealed it’s a one-man show.
3. To the best of my understanding there are exactly 0 merchants who have integrated with Bridge successfully, making it vaporware and not fit for public consumption, let alone a press release, official announcement, or countdown to launch. Any claims of “alpha testing” (Alpha stage means it’s not yet complete) have not been verified by any community members. I would LOVE for some independant source to counter this claim, so if you’ve used Bridge, to accept payments on your website, PLEASE speak up!On July 30th, Android and iOS versions of the application were announced to the public. On that same day, Justabit also told the public that “…the three member currencies of UNOCS [will] implement Bridge support into their respective clients… With a click, it’ll do the exchange for you. That’s not in this initial release, but that’s where it’s heading.” Today is August 7th.
On that same day, it was revealed that “User accounts are split into two stores of money — one for saving and one for transactions. The transaction account has three types of (virtual) payment cards attached to them: the primary card which is limited by what is in the spending account, a secondary card which which have a daily spend limit, and one time use cards for extra protection.", and Mike claimed that, “…the system has been designed to present as familiar as possible experience to non-technical users.”
Oh, and fiat conversion was also promised “in the future”, and that “we’re doing the necessary licensing/bonding etc.”.
But let’s not forget the single most damning piece of evidence:
[move]You can’t even use PXC to play poker on PhenixPoker.com, which was the reason the coin was created.[/move]
I’ve been there, the tables are all empty. Every single table, 0/10. As far as I can tell, THAT site isn’t even functional, but if someone would like to report their winnings, I’d love to be proven wrong about that too.

This site can be great with traffic, just sick of playing headsup constantly. That said, I never keep any coins on the site and insta withdrawl every session, just in case. Actually had good fun playing with Iam, justabit, John etc when they were on.

I think UNOCS has been a strong PR move for PXC and WDC because they’re weaker significantly than FTC. Market value of their currencies boosted in July and now back to the pre-alliance positions. In other words, the market considers UNOCS defunct.
I didn’t do my usual due diligence when invested into PXC. I expected it to be completed already upon admission to the alliance. It wasn’t obviously. Lesson learned.

The revelation about Mike is very concerning. I diversified and got a few PXCs and WDCs after the partnership was announced as I had full faith in our community, and this was recommended. Now it seems that PXC is quite dubious (my alarm bells were set off when they announced the hard fork) and I am wondering whether I should sell off my (admittedly very small) stash at almost half the price.
Not good to sell now below 0.0002 BTC. The market is waiting.
Good advise. The price has bounced back. Would have made a loss if I had sold yesterday.
When I was at the NYC Bitcoin Conference, most people I spoke to (that are supposed to be in the know) didn’t even realize there were other Scrypt based coins. Now, when we extend that to the general market, they haven’t even heard of any of us yet.
PhenixExchange Alpha released (which will tie into the Bridge)
As mentioned below, Feathercoin is not UNOCS… it’s just one piece of the puzzle. While we bring Feathercoin up to .004/.005 and beyond, I’m sure Kevlar will still point out how bad Bush is as a developer and how I should have managed a large group of volunteers using his methods. Great, looking forward to his fork. Lots of communities have tried to replicate our strategies and success. Obviously, something is going right.
Lots of legitimate concerns. I apologize for the delays… unfortunately we missed deadlines. I’m not playing Monday morning quaterback, still in the trenches for you. If you want to support the coins, great. If not, that’s fine too. I know where it’s heading… I was right with my initial initiatives with Feathercoin, I plan to replicate the same success for our partners.
Look forward to visiting this thread in a few months. I hope everyone’s enjoying the FTC value and the upcoming announcements. :) Criticism I respect, those with obvious ulterior motives… well… we’ll see where we end up. :)
So let’s recap:
Feather’s value -> Up Up Up
Phenix/World -> If you’re not invested, you lost nothing. If you did invest, I’m working hard to increase it.
This is exactly why you don’t see much of me around the forums anymore. I’m focused on adding value, some are focused on the exact opposite.

I’m still not sure what to really expect out of UNOCS anyway. It’s pretty much vaporware at the moment.
ok?
Other than basic generalizations what do we really know? We haven’t really seen the site other than the main page (unless there are screenshots I’ve overlooked). As pointed out earlier in the thread the release came and went weeks ago. Some of us, including myself really pushed the word on it, and there’s not much coming out since the initial press release. It’s almost the very definition of vaporware. We have something you’re really going to like and it’ll be released sometime this year… maybe.
I guess it really doesn’t matter to me personally as I don’t have the personal investment in it that the owners/developers do but it is still a bit a mystery.
Anything I say at the moment won’t matter… it’s about releasing products. I get that… everyone is working hard to make it happen.
Let’s start here:
That’s the alpha of the Phenix’s exchange… it’ll allow instant transfers between the exchange and the bridge. How will that benefit Feather? We’ll be able to take advantage of the bridge as well as opportunities on the exchange. How about the phenixpoker (yes, still working on it)… only 3 coins available, Feathercoin being one of them.
Far from vaporware, everyone is just working to get products released… there were delays, it happens. Ultimately, this is just one piece of the Feathercoin puzzle. It’s 3 coins sharing resources…
I spend my day smiling and dialing… day in/ day out. When I see a piece of news related to Bitcoin or Litecoin, I follow-up with those companies and try to make headway. With UNOCS, the goal will be coins looking out for each other.
If people don’t want to support it, that’s fine. Right now, I’m focused on items away from the chatboard. Again, far from vaporware… just spending more time finishing items rather than talking about it. Look forward to sharing items as they become available!
Look forward to seeing all your grassroots efforts… lots to do for Feather.

I’d say the best thing to do now is just wait until services are released. At that point, great time to discuss. In the meantime, all 3 groups have useful discussions. Here’s some examples:
Feather to Phenix -> We can offer to help get your coin resolved with x,y,z changes
Phenix to Feather -> We are going to add you to the PhenixPoker site and give you the ability to run these promotions on the Phenix change
World to Feather -> We can assist with the marketing material you requested
As we wait for the bridge/exchange connection to complete… it’s been a good resource to bounce ideas and get assistance. These arrangements will take time to sort out… it’s new to crypto. Whenever you pioneer new ideas (such as the features coming to Feather), there are going to be huge hiccups along the way. I took responsibility for the delays… we were too optimistic. Now, we’re trying to keep our head down a crank out what was promised.
For a bunch of volunteers, I like where it’s heading. This changes nothing in terms of Feather. I HONESTLY appreciate the feedback… I’m just concerned some people spend more time finding everything wrong rather than contributing. So much to do… our work is just beginning at Feather.
Imagine if everyone picked up the phone and spoke to friends/family about Feather… while I spent time cleaning up UNOCS. Just my 2 cents… at this point, I’m just trying to pass along info… we’re all very busy, I’m not trying to convince anyone to wave the UNOCS banner.
Back to work I go… first swarm emails went out.

Now, back to Feather… everyone, please take a look at the activism item posted on the main page. We could use that same energy exhibited in this thread toward moving our cause forward. Don’t wait for someone else to do it… 10 minutes and we can continue to push the name.

Oh come on, John. You addressed nothing in that post. “Pay no attention to the facts being presented. Look! Someone pumped FTC on the exchanges! Everything is fine!”
We still don’t know how involved this Mike character is and whether or not he’s actually producing anything or just taking us for a ride. If the developers can’t be trusted to join forces with a trustworthy team, why should people trust them to keep Feathercoin innovating and moving forward securely? The concerns need to be addressed.
Now, feel free to use your impunity to berate me and other concerned members as people trying to destroy FTC.
I’m confused, I don’t remember requiring you to support anything. I’m not your leader, I said my peace, take it up with Bush.
While people bitch and moan, I’m out there working my ass off for the coin. To be honest, it makes me want to spend less and less time here. That’s just a fact.
Absolutely amazing… serious… amazing.
If Phenix decides to not include us on their bridge, at this point, I wouldn’t even blame them. So great, be prepared to develop a competing system. Mike doesn’t owe you anything… period. They’ve been nice enough to invite us along with their services.
“Someone pumped FTC on the exchanges! Everything is fine!”"
Give me a freaking break. Our volume doesn’t magically get pumped for no reason… the hard work of this community which was realized at the Bitcoin Conference was a major contributor. The Advanced Checkpointing that Bush got crucified on is a contributing factor. The activists here emailing day in and day out is a contributing factor.
Look, I’m not hiding in the shadows… my name is public and so is my phone number. Drop me a PM, if you’re not international (US), I’d be happy to talk to you about everything we’re doing for YOUR coin… or even Phenix. If you want to go a different direction, fine.
Nice try, I’m right here in the open. Let’s make the call… heck, we can skype a public debate a post it… just drop the PM and let’s be done with it. I’m truly sick of this ’ you owe me ’ mentality. I put my time in, I have a fairly strong track record helping move this from 80 or some members to what we have today.
I’m done with this bs. Spent too much time and far too much money to constantly repeat myself.
-
You’re constantly emphasizing the importance of the community, but when several people bring up legitimate concerns and demand answers, they’re being ridiculous and have a self-entitled attitude.
If we are all trying to get Feathercoin accepted as legitimate currency by the general publicâ€"and I thought this was the main goal of the community, though not necessary Bush’s intention at the startâ€"the developers are playing with our money; you bet your bum we deserve answers. We’ve heard absolutely zero from the devs about the allegations against the PXC guys (particularly Mike) and what exactly is happening with UNOCS, which you yourself declared to be central to getting FTC into the hands of the Average Joe and increasing its value and viability as a currency.
If you can’t take the heat or respond to criticisms, you should probably find another hobby.
-
I just completely disagree with digging into people’s personal lives in a movement that was founded by people that preach being anonymous. UNOCS has zip to do with current Feathercoin development. We were INVITED to use their services… YOU don’t have to do crap with it… I don’t care. If Mike wants to share his personal information, that’s entirely up to him. If you feel he should, great, let’s get our information as well:
I’m John Manglaviti, my phone number is 417-597-3702. Feel free to msg me your personal information and we can go from there. I’m serious, let’s come out of the shadows since most of you contribute to Feathercoin as well. Maybe I have concerns with some of you… I can think of a few people I’d like to start with. ;)
Until the Bridge is released, to me, this is a waste of time. But hey, if we want to dig around with each other’s backgrounds, I look forward to your PMs… and I’ll give you my own references.
People forget that ANYONE can accept Feathercoin. If someone wants to allow us on their service, great…more power to them. That’s all I have to say about that. You guys can do your thing, I’ll work on my investment. You say Feathercoin development doesn’t matter, but I STRONGLY disagree. While people are focused on this nonsense, they continue to leave more work for those of us that are willing to pick up the shovel.
Where’s the same ‘up in arms’ when we create an activism thread?
If Feather decides to distance itself from Phenix, I’ll respect it. I’ll simply help build their community up the same way I did Feather. Long term, moving away from their assistance is a mistake. But what I know about growing a community and getting visibility… oh wait.
I’m done… make your own decisions and spend your money as you please. I’m not your leader, I’m certainly not accountable to you. If you want to share your personal information in PM, great, we’ll go from there… happy to talk to someone over the phone… not like this. Unreal… the service hasn’t even been released.
DONE
-
This has gone a little too far I think and if there are personal concerns I agree they should be moved to PM.
I’m not calling anyone in particular out. I just made a couple observations that were my opinions on the current situation and sharing in some of the concerns people have. That’s all. I also was agreeing with the general sentiment that John has done a lot for the community, and didn’t mean to suggest otherwise.
