100s of versions of Linux… I was right in the middle of it in the 90s. If anything, different versions doing their own thing (no matter how major or minor) ultimately helped get us where we are today in that community.

You don’t see a good purpose for alternate versions of btc? I think btc, ltc and ftc make perfect sense. Gold, silver and bronze. The more alternatives there are for people to move back and forth, the more comfort people have to hedge their bets. I would think, as a btc guy, you would be for less hegemony in the cryptocurrency arena. Let the coin live or die based on its attractiveness in the market, not by the spite of people who are afraid of competition. I know, “This is the free market”, but seriously, why are you doing your robber baron attacks?
well BTC is its own gold silver and bronze.
its nuthing to do with being afraid of competition, its more about alt/joke coins making a joke of cryptocurrency and by doing so spoiling btc broader acceptance. -
FTC is anything but a joke crypocurrency, in fact one on the biggest pushes is for feathercoin to be accepted by merchants for goods and service. We have also set up a market to trade feathercoins for real world items. We are doing our best to get the word out that cryptocurrency can be a good and easy way to do business. This can only help to strengthen BTC in the long term. I, as I’m sure a lot of member of this community here have a lot of respect for BTC and its community, and I want BTC, and all other legitimate crypto currencies to be a success just as much as we want FTC to be a success. Together we find strength, not fighting one another on who is better.
-
The only people spoiling BTC broader acceptance is:
- BTC developers have their own little cave where they work
- BTC developers bending over to authorities as well as exchanges
- BTC community not improving any of the details of the coin so that people can adapt to the REAL WORLD.
- BTC community being hostile to anyone who does wish to either add to or compete
Broader acceptance comes from trusting the crypto market, not the product. People buy Ford and Dodge because they need cars, not because they need Ford and Dodge. You will not get broader acceptance if there is only once choice. People do not buy Whoppers. They buy burgers. They don’t want the yellow and red clown at their table. They want food.
People want the product not the brand name. The brand name comes later.
It’s true that the alt coin frenzy caused people to question crypto. But half of the bad alt coins were made by people who hate alts. They have only themselves to blame by their own immature behavior.
I can also guarantee you that DDoS on FTC makes BTC and LTC look much worse. Even if people are scared away from FTC, they will be very disgusted with BTC and LTC dictators behaving like 12 year olds.People want the comfort to choose. They will not choose BTC if it’s the only option. They will wait until they can get the red car with the fuzzy dice and sunroof.

Been in btc awhile and I’ve been no fan of ftc, but I’ll give you guys a chance.
Why does or should FTC even exist?
Because the BTC crew said it best, Bitcoin will be for saving, buying a house, buying a car or any other large purchase.
Another coin (perhaps LTC) can serve for smaller transactions like buying a television, washer & dryer, etc.
And yet another coin for micro-transactions (the majority) for day-to-day purchases … coffee, cigarettes, lap dances, the usual stuff.
Why? Why not just use fractions of BTC for payment like the old days?
Because new users and merchants don’t want to deal with fractions, they want to deal with whole numbers (wait someone else said this recently).
And this is where Feathercoin comes in.
-
I personally think everyone will switch from BTC to LTC when they realize just how awful it is for mining when the ASICs get delivered in wider production.
Then, people will switch to FTC because it’s got great development and will be/is easier to get into. In my opinion, SHA-256 should go extinct eventually. They better :P

This is by no means an insult, simply an observation. Is it fair to assume you didn’t grow up around open source software or free market principles? If so, that’s where you and I will have a real difficult time seeing eye to eye. Regardless, welcome to the site.
Personally, I wish we as a community can avoid ‘tired’ words such as:
- Scam coin
- Joke coin
Again, just my opinion. It reminds me when I’m sitting next to some kid in a hoodie, sunglasses and headphones at the poker table listening to his endless rant about the ‘fish’ and the ‘donkeys’. It offers nothing more than a lazy swipe.
Not quite sure where this generation either forgot about or never quite understood the idea behind open software and community involvement.
In the end the whole conversation is about having a conversation. Does this community want to have and continue to have intelligent meaningful debate or degrade into snides or swipes. It’s something I also see as a differentiation of this community from others, acceptable behavior. I’ve seen people apologize on this forum regularly. Apologize on an internet forum?? :o
Solutions and the future can only come about with proper discourse and no epeen waving. I’m all for intelligent discussion though I am 1/4 troll. 8)

guess the lack of ability to answer my simple question ages back has got you to this point.
panic change algos, reinvent yourself…do this over and over again and you are doing nothing more then setting yourself up for more downtrend…my guess next something like being real dumbass and going pos?
not the enemy here sometimes though it pays to be brutally honest, you know you guys even had some of the stage for awhile? early on you had more exposure then so many coins dream about…what did you do with it?
-
Could you expand on your thoughts on POS?

You failed to mention the lies, the hype generators, the broken promises, the failed projects, and the total lack of innovation or ability to stay current with current technology trends.
I don’t think PoS is a ‘real dumbass’, but it won’t do much unless you also address the hyper-inflation problem, which they have said they won’t address. I mean it does eliminate the SUPER dumbass move of ACP ???
What did they do with it? They squandered it on empty promises, disinformation campaigns, hype juggernauts, and disillusioning people. Bushstar has documented himself on these forums time and time again as being the #1 obstacle to progress of any sort, and most recently has stated that he won’t even consider economic solutions to the economic problems. He’s put people in charge time and time again who were not qualified to do the job required, and he himself did so because he isn’t qualified either, and he refuses to listen to anyone who is. As a result, we have shit like UNOCS, ACP, and NeoScrypt. It’s taken us years to get up to speed on the latest QT core, which should have been a trivial task to begin with since it was forked from that to begin with, and that was done by a volunteer in China! The market place is gone, ACP is going into the newest core, and all the good solutions have been ignored. They fucked over investors, ignore their community, dismiss good solutions, and ban people who say they’re doing a shitty job. Watch out… you’ve just painted a target on your forehead, you may soon find yourself banned like I was for saying that this is a problem.
-
Its a shame really some of these more qualified people didn’t do some development to help in the past to stop this happening.
-
Who’s been banned?

It would be a shame if there wasn’t a long, well documented history of people doing just that.
Instead of a shame, it’s a tragedy, because these people and their development efforts were ignored, lied to, and generally treated like their contribution wasn’t valued… mostly by the leadership but also by the market at large. People who made services to enhance the blockchain’s value, wallets for the web, phones and SMS, games, ATM machines, tip bots, physical coins… you name it, at one time someone was likely either building it or talking about it. Solutions for blockchain security? Have been discussed at great length… all of them ignored.
Instead of being adopted, encouraged, highlighted, and given the same support as the main product, management chose to ignore these things, and so did the market. Instead of accepting people’s offers for help, management dug their heels in and pushed back. Instead of discussing viable solutions and encouraging collaboration, management remained non-commital, or just outright ignored them. Instead of embracing open source solutions, and crowd funded development, management hired coders on a one-off basis to code their personal ego projects using their own funds because they couldn’t get anyone to volunteer and they don’t know how to do it themselves.
No, it’s not a shame that others didn’t try and help. We have a long history documented of people trying to help. The shame lies entirely with the people who ignored them.

Who’s been banned?
I have, you were there when it happened and threw a fit to get me unbanned when Bushstar banned me. I think Calem did it himself.
-
I think clarification on that is important. I’d hate people to think anyone who’s speaking up is being permanantly banned. You are still here.
When you say “ban people”, you mean just you and only briefly.

Oh well that just makes it all fine, doesn’t it? I mean we can just forget about everything else because it was only for a day? We can forget about the posts of mine that are still deleted because they were ‘controversial’? Because apparently the truth is controversial…
-
I hope I do not end up banned for this post I decided to take this risk because it needs to be said it is not often I speak up.
I mostly read this forum and hardly post because I do not wish to join in arguements.
I have been here since August 2013 I can not comment on everything but I will comment on what I know:
The failed projects the combined markets of Feathercoin, Worldcoin and Phoenixcoin
Justabitoftime
and many others
The invoation ignored so many ideas that still could be picked up and something done with this it is not too late for us to change our fortunes.
Why ignore us all we want this coin to succeed noone can get it right 24/7 however when you get it wrong you must learn from your mistakes not keep going a mistake that gets worse and worse. I donated money at many times to this coins development however I feel we must change course fast I am still prepared to donate money to development.
We can not upset people? We will never get anywhere if we do not take risks if we do not take calculated risks we may as well give up right now. Afraid to be disliked? You must be prepared to be hated like Martin Luther King and many others was disliked by many but stood by their principles and won in the end. This is a case of people must be prepared to step out of their comfort zone we may not know the path ahead of us but we must be prepared to forge and create this path for others in the years to come to follow behind us? Their is millions of people who depend on us succeeding most of those are not on this forum and may not have heard of cryptocurrency but this is hugely important and can not under any circumstances be left to fail. I am myself a activist I have many who hate me but I keep going because the principles I stand for for a better world for all must succeed I just get on with the job despite my critics.
What brought me to Feathercoin? I want change likely similar to the reason Calem is here because Cryptocurrencies have the potential to replace damaged government currencies and the governments themselves.

Why delete posts if their is nothing to hide nothing to fear isnt that correct? By deleting posts and banning users who speak about problems it suggests their is things to be hidden. Bushstar I know you will likely read this I understand you may not like me by my post. However I understand some of the things that have happened unfortunately at the time was not easy decisions to make and I myself state now I very likely if put in your shoes would have likely made mistakes also I am not perfect. I myself am prepared to come out from behind a avatar on a forum and speak in person about any thoughts I am located in England and happy to travel.
Where do we go from here why not come together as one community and work towards full permenant solutions, Work towards merchant adoption work towards better services Lizhi has lead the way now is a time to work together and make this the success it will be it is never too late and can be turned around lets make it happen.
