I want to discuss this topic in a smaller group before going out into the public section of the forum.

My idea:

A Decentralized ACP would be more robust against DOS and DDOS attacks and also resistant to hardware failures or other problems on the ACP node(s).

My idea:

Build a dynamic group of ACP nodes providing the ACP keys in a round robin mode.
everybody running a wallet can become a member of the List of ACP nodes by registering as ACP member and placing a amount of FTC into a reserved wallet solely used by this member. As soon as the amount of FTC in the reserved wallet drops below the minimum value defined, the member/node's registration is invalidated.

voting system to select N active ACP nodes
1. open: how to vote
2. failing to provide ACP key or being offline leads to a penalty of X negative votes
list of selected ACP nodes is broadcasted /distributed in the ACP message
'normal' clients maintain a list of selected ACP nodes and accept the ACP message from any node in that list.

Basically the mechanism would be the same as DASH is using.

The above is very high level and I didn't check if an implementation is possible.

Open is, if we want an intensive for ACP members to register and participate in the ACP signing and how such an intensive could be financed.

One idea for the incentive/financing:

every 10th block is mined by one of the ACP members at lowest difficulty and the member is rewarded by the mined coins

Again, I have no idea if this would be possible.
